Koodo’s $3 Prepaid Plan Increase Affected Some Legacy Customers in 2025

A reported $3 increase applied to some Koodo prepaid legacy plans in 2025, not all customers. Here’s how to check your account and compare alternatives.

The reported $3 increase was a 2025 change for a small number of Koodo prepaid customers on select legacy plans—not a blanket increase for all prepaid subscribers. MobileSyrup reported on August 15, 2025, that TELUS said affected customers would see the higher price on a billing cycle beginning September 15, 2025. To find out whether your own price changed, check your bill and Koodo Self Serve.

What happened to some Koodo prepaid plans?

TELUS told MobileSyrup that it had contacted “a small number” of Koodo prepaid customers on select legacy rate plans about a $3 increase starting with their next billing cycle beginning September 15, 2025. The report gave one customer’s example: a $15 monthly plan rising to $18. That is a 20% increase for that example only; it does not establish the previous price or increase for every affected customer. MobileSyrup’s August 15, 2025 report did not publish a complete list of affected plans or a subscriber count.

The announcement is historical, not a newly reported 2026 increase. It also does not show that every Koodo prepaid customer—or every customer on a legacy plan—was affected.

How to check whether your own price changed

Your bill and Self Serve account are the relevant sources for your plan and any notice. Koodo says it provides notice of rate-plan or add-on price increases at least 30 days in advance through a message on the bill and in Self Serve. Its help page also directs customers to Self Serve to review available plans and make changes. That general process does not confirm what notice a particular customer received in 2025.

  1. Review recent bills for a message about a plan or add-on price change.
  2. Sign in to Koodo Self Serve and check your current plan, renewal cost, and any account messages or offers.
  3. Compare the amount charged at renewal with your previous plan price and check whether any add-ons changed too.

If you cannot find an explanation for a different charge, contact Koodo through its official support channels and ask which plan or add-on changed and when the new price took effect.

What to compare before changing plans

Koodo says prepaid options include 30-day base plans and 365-day plans. Public offers and prices can change, and a plan shown publicly may not be available to every legacy customer. Check the options presented in your own Self Serve account and compare the full cost and terms rather than choosing on headline price alone.

Our triple-cut SIM card is designed in three sizes (Mini/Micro/Nano) to ensure compatibility with a wide variety of devices. Simply punch out the size that fits your device and insert it.
  • How does it work: The SIM Kit includes a 3-in-1 SIM card (standard, micro, and nano sim card) to fit all SIM Devices. Also it supports eSIM activation on Apple, Google, Samsung devices.
  • eSIM: During activation, you can choose to use your physical SIM or switch to eSIM. The eSIM is available on iPhone 11 and newer models, Google Pixel 2 and higher, and compatible Samsung devices.
  • Recurring cost: Compare what you will actually pay at each renewal, including any add-ons you need.
  • Included service: Check data, calling and texting against your usage; do not assume a new plan includes the same features as your current one.
  • Duration and payment timing: A 365-day plan may require a different upfront payment and renewal schedule from a 30-day plan. A monthly equivalent alone can obscure the cash you need to pay and when.
  • Add-on terms: Check the price and validity of any data or calling add-ons needed to match your current service.
  • Eligibility and conditions: Confirm the plan is actually available to you and whether requirements such as automatic top-up apply.

Koodo’s prepaid plan help page explains that plans renew when there are enough service credits. It says customers can schedule a plan change for the next renewal or change immediately. An immediate change starts a new payment cycle, and prepaid plans are not prorated when changed early. Check the current terms in your account before acting, especially if you have already paid for time remaining in a cycle.

For current public options, consult Koodo’s prepaid plan page, then verify price, availability and conditions in Self Serve. TELUS’s separate July 1, 2026 change to new activations on the TELUS Prepaid brand is unrelated: TELUS said existing TELUS Prepaid customers were not affected by that activation change and directed new customers to Koodo Prepaid. TELUS explains that update here.
