What the August report actually said
On August 1, 2025, TechCrunch reported information attributed to Bloomberg sources that Klarna might try to hold an IPO as early as September. The report said the timing had not been decided, so September was a possibility—not a confirmed date. TechCrunch also reported that Klarna had filed for an IPO in March and paused its plans about a month later after tariff announcements unsettled markets; those details were attributed to the report, not established here from the underlying filings. Klarna’s initial expected range was $35–$37, announced at launch on September 2; the final price was announced on September 9. Trading date versus closing date
September 10 was the first day Klarna shares traded publicly on the NYSE. September 11 was the date the company announced the offering had closed. Those milestones answer different questions: a trading start is when public trading began, while the closing announcement marks completion of the offering process. The IPO price of $40 is the offering price and should not be read as KLAR’s share price today.
