Klarna is already public: its Class A ordinary shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under KLAR. The company priced its September 2025 IPO at $40 per share, but that launch price is historical—not a current valuation or a reason by itself to buy or avoid the stock. A dated investor-relations quote showed $14.21 on August 26, 2026; it is not an October 4 quote. Before considering KLAR, distinguish the IPO from today’s market price and weigh the company’s disclosed risks, share structure and latest available financial reporting.

Is Klarna public, and what is its stock ticker?

Yes. Klarna Group plc’s ordinary shares began trading on the NYSE as KLAR on September 10, 2025. Klarna announced completion of the offering the following day. The listing and ticker are also confirmed in the company’s 2025 annual report, filed with the SEC in 2026. SEC Form 20-F; Klarna IPO announcement.

What happened in Klarna’s IPO?

Klarna priced the IPO at $40 per ordinary share. The company’s announcement said the base offering comprised 34,311,274 shares: 5,000,000 sold by Klarna and 29,311,274 sold by existing shareholders. The annual report later recorded a total of 39,457,965 shares sold after exercise of the underwriters’ over-allotment option. It reported $169 million in net proceeds to Klarna after underwriting discounts and other offering costs. The offering total should not be confused with money raised by the company: most of the base shares were sold by existing holders, not issued by Klarna. SEC Form 20-F; Klarna IPO announcement.

What was KLAR’s price, and what is the current quote?

The IPO price was $40 in September 2025. It is not the current share price. A captured result from Klarna’s investor-relations stock page showed $14.21 and volume of 4,373,022 as of August 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. That is a dated snapshot, not a quote for October 4, 2026; market prices and volume change. Klarna’s official stock-information page did not expose a readable live quote in the accessed text. What should investors know about KLAR’s shares and voting rights?

Klarna has a dual-class share structure. In the company’s March 2026 explanation, Class B shares carried ten votes per share, while the NYSE-traded Class A ordinary shares carried one vote per share. The company said some holders could retain Class B voting rights through depositary receipts; converting shares into broker-dealer accounts could result in losing those rights. Voting power and economic ownership therefore should not be treated as interchangeable. Klarna lock-up update.

Lock-up expiration did not mean every share was immediately tradable

Klarna said about 335 million shares were subject to lock-up restrictions expiring on March 9, 2026, but the affected shares fell into different categories and processes. The company described approximately 97 million affiliate-held depositary-receipt shares subject to separate Rule 144 restrictions, approximately 62 million non-affiliate shares held through depositary receipts, and approximately 177 million pre-IPO shares held by non-affiliates. For the latter group, conversion and transfer procedures could be needed before trading through a U.S. broker-dealer. These figures describe company-reported mechanics; they do not establish that holders sold shares or that all shares in the total entered the market at once. Klarna lock-up update.

What risks does Klarna disclose?

Klarna’s 2025 Form 20-F warns: “Investing in our ordinary shares involves a high degree of risk.” The annual report groups risks involving the business and industry, regulation, intellectual property, data privacy and cybersecurity, and ownership of ordinary shares. That is the company’s disclosure, not an independent ranking of how likely or severe each risk is. SEC Form 20-F.

In its March 2026 lock-up statement, Klarna also identified risks relevant to its forward-looking statements, including retaining consumer and merchant relationships, competition and technological change, regulatory compliance and licensing, funding arrangements and availability, credit-risk management, economic conditions and market volatility, and expansion into markets and products. For a buy decision, these point to questions an investor should investigate rather than outcomes the disclosures predict. Klarna lock-up update.

What financial information is available for the latest period?

The SEC filing index records a Klarna Form 6-K filed August 18, 2026, covering the six months ended June 30, 2026. Its listed exhibits include a Q2 2026 earnings release, interim financial statements, supplementary metrics and an investor presentation. The filing index confirms those materials were filed; it does not, by itself, establish their individual revenue, profit, credit-loss or guidance figures. Investors should consult the filings directly before drawing conclusions about current performance. SEC filing index for Klarna Group plc.

Should you buy Klarna stock now?

The IPO price and the dated August quote are not enough to answer that for an individual investor, and neither establishes what KLAR will return in the future. A decision requires a current share price and a view of the company’s financial performance, credit exposure, funding, competitive position, regulatory obligations and voting structure—along with your own time horizon, risk tolerance and portfolio. This is factual context, not a personalized investment recommendation.

If comparing Klarna with another public fintech or payments company, use figures from the same reporting period and compare revenue growth, profitability, credit losses, funding sources, regulatory and geographic exposure, voting control, and dilution or lock-up mechanics. Do not treat a prospectus-era ownership breakdown as a verified current ownership table; Klarna’s investor-relations page describes ownership and voting-power percentages based on the prospectus.
