On September 23, 2013, Kewill announced MOVE, an enterprise software platform for transportation, logistics, and trade compliance. It was aimed at logistics service providers, manufacturers, retailers, and distributors, with general availability scheduled to begin in October 2013. The announcement described a broad set of freight, warehouse, customs, visibility, and partner-integration workflows—not a physical product. EE Times reported the launch details.
What Kewill MOVE was announced to do
Kewill described MOVE as a multimodal supply-chain execution platform intended to manage activities across trade, transportation, warehousing, compliance, operational oversight, and partner connections. Its release grouped those capabilities into six areas:
- Trade: Shipment management from order through invoice, ranging from full containers to parcels, including freight forwarding, transportation, and warehousing. Kewill said this could offer earlier insight into supply issues and trade barriers.
- Transport: Air, sea, rail, and road movements, covering full loads, less-than-truckload freight, pallets, and parcels from local to global operations.
- Store: Warehouse and inventory management, including inventory visibility for suppliers and customers and wireless technology intended to support operator productivity.
- Comply: Customs and trade-compliance management, awareness of regulatory changes, and connections to local customs applications.
- Manage: End-to-end logistics visibility through dashboards, key performance indicators, and proactive alerts.
- Integrate: External collaboration and business-to-business integration with trading partners.
These are launch-era descriptions from Kewill, not independently measured performance findings. The announcement did not report test results or quantify improvements.
Who it was for and how it could be deployed
The stated audiences were logistics service providers, manufacturers, and retailers and distributors. Kewill said customers could deploy MOVE on-premises or use it as software as a service (SaaS). The announcement did not explain implementation timelines, operating requirements, or the detailed differences between those models, so it does not support a more specific comparison.

Availability and pricing at launch
Kewill said general availability would begin in October 2013. It published no price in the announcement and directed prospective buyers to a Kewill representative for pricing and more information. Those statements describe the 2013 launch; they do not establish whether MOVE is available today, who owns it now, or what current support and pricing arrangements may be.
What Kewill said about its scale
In the 2013 release, Kewill said its platform supported supply-chain execution activities at more than 7,000 companies, in over 40 countries and across five continents. This is a company-reported historical figure, not an independently verified or current customer count.

The business case Kewill presented
The announcement framed MOVE around the need to coordinate information and goods across complex supply chains. Kewill CMO Evan Puzey said, “Today’s supply chain requires technology to access and analyze as much information as possible to successfully meet consumer demand.” That is Kewill’s rationale for the platform, not evidence of a measured outcome.
The release also attributed to Gartner the statement that “Supply chain’s contribution to business growth overtook improving customer experience as a business priority this year.” It identified the source as Gartner’s May 13, 2013 report, Survey Analysis: Business Priorities in North America Shift Toward Investment in Customer Experience, Providing Opportunity in the Supply Chain Market, by Chad Eschinger and C. Dwight Klappich. The announcement gave no numerical survey result, so the statement should not be read as a quantified finding.

What the announcement did not establish
The launch materials set out intended functions and deployment choices, but did not provide a price list, implementation schedule, named MOVE customer case studies, quantified performance results, or a feature-by-feature comparison with competing platforms. Kewill president and CEO Bob Farrell described the platform as “innovative” and referred to the company’s “unmatched experience”; these are attributed company claims rather than independent assessments. A contemporaneous Journal of Commerce republication likewise covered the launch scope, intended audiences, deployment models, and availability timing.
