Kenzo Security announced a $4.5 million seed round on April 21, 2025, led by The General Partnership, with Michael Coates also named as a backer. The company pitched an agentic AI platform for security operations. That financing story has since changed: Rapid7 announced it acquired Kenzo on March 26, 2026, with plans to integrate its technology into Rapid7’s security platform and managed detection and response operations.
How much did Kenzo Security raise?
Kenzo announced $4.5 million in seed funding on April 21, 2025. Kenzo said The General Partnership led the round; its press release also named security operators and angel investors, including Michael Coates, among the backers. The company said it planned to use the funds for engineering and sales hiring and platform development. Kenzo’s launch announcement and its April 2025 press release describe the financing.
Kenzo also said it had spent 18 months developing the platform before emerging from stealth. Its release reported 14 employees at the time and a goal of reaching 20 by year-end 2025; those are dated company statements, not current staffing figures.
What did Kenzo Security do?
Kenzo described its product as a security operations platform built around specialized AI agents that collaborate using a proprietary security data mesh. The company said the platform covered investigations, detection, threat intelligence, risk-based alerting and proactive threat hunting. In contrast to products focused narrowly on handling first-line alerts, Kenzo’s stated aim was to bring together security context and surface useful insights for analysts.

These are Kenzo’s descriptions of its product, not independent validation of its capabilities. In its April 2025 launch post, CEO Harish Singh wrote that security operations are about “surfacing the most important insight to a human for action.” That statement reflects the company’s intended role for human analysts; it does not establish how much decision-making the software could perform autonomously.
What Kenzo said about early customers and setup
In its launch-period post, Kenzo said it supported customers in financial services, high tech, retail and manufacturing. The company also said customers could get started using read-only API access to security tools. These statements describe the product and customer activity in April 2025; they do not establish Kenzo’s customer base, onboarding process or product availability after its acquisition.
Rapid7 acquired Kenzo in 2026
Rapid7 announced on March 26, 2026, that it had acquired Kenzo Security. Rapid7 said it intended to integrate Kenzo’s data mesh into the Rapid7 Command Platform and embed Kenzo AI models across its managed detection and response (MDR) operations. The announcements describe integration plans, not confirmed details about current packaging, pricing, migration terms or general availability. See Rapid7’s acquisition announcement.
As a result, Kenzo’s funding is best understood as a 2025 seed-stage financing milestone for a company whose technology Rapid7 later acquired—not as evidence that Kenzo remains an independent vendor with the same standalone product offering.

What Rapid7 reported about results

The surfaced announcement did not provide a sample size or methodology, so the figures should not be treated as independently verified outcomes or as a guarantee for other organizations.
