A 2024 report said Katie Holmes was looking for acting roles as child-support payments for her daughter, Suri, neared their reported end. The work-search claim came from an unnamed source, and Holmes’s lawyer rejected the accompanying portrayal of financial hardship. The figure repeated in the 2012 coverage was reportedly $400,000 a year—not $40,000 a month—and Suri turned 18 on April 18, 2024.

Was Katie Holmes looking for work?

A 2024 entertainment report, citing an anonymous source, said Holmes was “actively looking for roles” and wanted to return to the industry full-time. That is an account of her alleged intentions, not a statement confirmed by Holmes. Read the report.

Holmes’s attorney, Jonathan W. Wolfe, rejected the portrayal of her as facing financial hardship. Geo.tv quoted him as saying: “The story is riddled with falsehood. One would hope there would be more newsworthy items to cover, and publications would avoid reporting as ‘facts’ claims from anonymous sources peddling such obvious misrepresentations.” Geo.tv’s report.

How much child support was Tom Cruise reported to pay?

Coverage from 2012 reported that Cruise was to pay $400,000 annually, which is about $33,333 per month. Sky News attributed the settlement details to TMZ and noted that lawyers declined to comment. The amount is a reported figure, not a term verified here against a public copy of the agreement. Sky News’s report.

The headline figure of $40,000 per month does not match that reported annual amount. The divorce settlement itself is not available in the sources cited here; the Los Angeles Times reported that Holmes’s attorney wanted to keep the divorce case private. Los Angeles Times coverage.

E! News separately reported that a source close to Cruise denied a reported hush payment and said child support and custody had been resolved during negotiations. That, too, is sourced reporting rather than a settlement document. E! News’s report.

When did the reported child-support period end?

Sky News reported that the payments were to continue until Suri turned 18. Geo.tv gives her birthday as April 18, 2024. The description of Holmes as about to lose the payments was therefore already historical by that date; the available reports do not establish her finances or employment circumstances after it.
