The “up to $320 off” offer referred to a specific 14.2-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Max, not the $849 MacBook Air. HotHardware reported both prices on June 14, 2025; neither is verified as available now, so treat them as historical deal figures rather than current offers.

Lower upfront cost: 13-inch MacBook Air
The $849 listing was the least expensive configuration highlighted: an M4 Air with 16GB memory and a 256GB SSD. HotHardware described the base Air as having an M4 with a 10-core CPU, 8-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine, along with Touch ID, a 12MP Center Stage camera, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe 3 and up to 18 hours of battery life. Those details are the 2025 article’s specifications, not an independently verified current specification sheet.

The source also flagged the 256GB SSD as a limitation and said the storage is not replaceable. That makes storage capacity a practical part of the price comparison: someone who keeps large media libraries or work files locally may need to budget for external storage or consider a higher-capacity configuration.
More memory or storage: higher-priced Air options
The reported $1,249 13.6-inch Air paired 24GB of memory with a 512GB SSD; the $1,049 15-inch Air paired 16GB with 256GB. These figures let shoppers compare memory, storage and screen size against the lower entry price, but they do not establish which configuration offers better value today.

Professional-tier options: MacBook Pro
The reported Pro offers ranged from an M4 model with 16GB memory and 1TB storage at $1,599 to an M4 Pro model with 24GB and 1TB at $2,149, and the M4 Max configuration at $2,879. The article did not publish controlled performance comparisons, so these prices and specifications alone do not prove how much faster one is for a particular workload. Choose based on the work you actually need the laptop to handle, along with memory and storage needs, rather than treating the largest discount as a reason to buy the highest-tier model.

How to assess the offer before buying
- Verify today’s listing and price. Check the retailer directly for the exact chip, screen size, memory and SSD capacity. The June 2025 figures do not confirm present inventory or pricing.
- Compare the same configuration. A discount on an M4 Max Pro is not a like-for-like comparison with the base Air. Match chip, memory and storage before judging a price difference.
- Account for storage. If 256GB is too little for your files, compare the cost of a higher-capacity model or an external drive before deciding that the base price is the better deal.
- Check the final checkout total. Confirm any applicable taxes, shipping, return terms and seller details before placing an order; the historical article does not establish current retailer terms.
What “up to $320 off” means
“Up to” identifies the largest reported reduction among the configurations in the article: $320 below the stated MSRP for the specified M4 Max 14.2-inch Pro. It does not mean that every listed Mac was discounted by $320. The $849 Air was reported at $150 below MSRP instead.

HotHardware attributed this wording to Apple, without naming an individual speaker: the M4 Max delivers “outrageous performance in a powerhouse laptop built for Apple Intelligence.” The article supplied no independent benchmark results or hands-on test results to quantify performance.
