Julie Sandler has moved from managing director to venture partner at Pioneer Square Labs (PSL). GeekWire reported on November 25, 2024, that the change was planned for later in 2025; PSL’s current biography and team roster list her as a venture partner.
What changed in Sandler’s role
The update marks a transition after Sandler spent nearly a decade as a managing director at PSL. In GeekWire’s November 2024 report, she said she would continue working closely with PSL’s team, partners, and portfolio companies while exploring “some new adventures.” The report did not name a replacement or describe a specific change to her workload.
GeekWire also reported that Sandler called her years at PSL “the most rewarding of my life and career.”
Sandler’s work at PSL
Sandler joined PSL in 2017 after six years at Madrona, according to GeekWire’s November 25, 2024 report. PSL’s current biography describes her as a co-founder of PSL Ventures and says she served as a general partner and managing director for nearly a decade.

How Pioneer Square Labs works
PSL combines a startup studio, which works with founders to build companies, and PSL Ventures, its early-stage investment fund. These are related but distinct activities: the studio creates companies, while the fund invests in early-stage businesses.

In a 2023 announcement about its third studio, PSL said Studio III had raised $20 million, PSL Ventures then managed $180 million, and the studio had spun out 33 venture-backed companies over its first eight years.
