What the exam is
JSSC is the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission, the state body that ran this recruitment. The exam is the JDLCCE 2023, a combined competitive examination for diploma-level posts in Jharkhand. It is not the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) JE exam run by the central government, so candidates for one should not assume the rules of the other.
Posts and vacancy count
Scroll Staff reported on June 13, 2023 that the recruitment had 1,551 vacancies across four post categories. The numbers below are that report’s figures. They should be read as the count announced in 2023, not as a verified final roster.

| Post | Vacancies (as reported June 13, 2023) |
|---|---|
| Junior Engineer (JE) | 1,436 |
| Street Light Inspector | 55 |
| Motor Vehicle Inspector | 44 |
| Pipe Line Inspector | 16 |

Junior Engineer posts made up the large majority of the total. The four categories are separate vacancies within one recruitment. Each post may have its own discipline requirement and reservation split, and those details come from the official notification rather than from the news report.
Key dates
The June 13, 2023 report gave the following schedule. Scroll Staff had reported earlier, on June 9, 2023, that the dates had been revised, with applications starting June 12. The June 13 schedule is the one that describes the announcement, so use it rather than the earlier version.

Eligibility as reported
The news summary gave three eligibility points. These are secondary summaries, so the official notification controls.
- Education: a diploma in the relevant field for the post applied for. The report did not list the accepted disciplines for each post.
- Age: 18 to 35 years as of August 1, 2023, with relaxation for reserved categories. The size and rules of the relaxation are not given in the report.
- Application fee: ₹100, as reported by Scroll Staff in June 2023. Fee rules for particular categories were not stated.
How selection was described
The report said selection would involve a written examination followed by an interview. It did not describe the paper pattern, syllabus, marks weighting, or whether the process changed later. Do not rely on any summary of those details unless it cites the official JSSC notice.

How to check the recruitment’s later stages
News coverage from June 2023 cannot tell you whether the examination was held, what the results were, or whether appointments were made. To find that out:
- Go to the official JSSC website at jssc.nic.in.
- Look for the original notification for the JDLCCE 2023 recruitment in the site’s notices or recruitment sections.
- Check for any corrigenda or amended notices, which can change dates, vacancy counts or eligibility.
- Look for the examination notices, admit card announcements, and result notices that followed.
- Check the appointment or final-selection records that JSSC publishes, if any are available.
If a third-party page gives a different vacancy count, fee, or date, compare it with the JSSC notice before acting on it.

This article is most useful as a record of a closed recruitment, for someone who saw the 2023 announcement and wants to confirm the numbers, or for a candidate who is preparing for a future JSSC diploma-level recruitment and wants to know how the 2023 cycle was structured. For the latter, the official notification of the next recruitment will be the reliable source for dates and eligibility.
