The JSSC constable application window reported to have opened on January 22, 2024, closed on February 21, 2024. It is no longer possible to apply through that window. News reports disagree on both the fee-payment deadline and the vacancy total, so those details should not be treated as settled without the original Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) notification.
What “JCCE 2024” refers to
The headline’s “today” referred to January 22, 2024. Amar Ujala described the recruitment examination as JCCE-2023, while the application process began in 2024. The Government of Jharkhand identifies JSSC as the state’s Staff Selection Commission, but its portal page was last updated in 2020 and does not verify the recruitment particulars. This is a historical account of the reported application window, not a current application notice. The information reviewed did not establish whether JSSC later issued another constable recruitment notice or amended the 2024 details.
Reported application dates—and the fee deadline conflict
Amar Ujala reported that applications opened January 22, 2024, and closed February 21. It gave February 23 as the fee-payment deadline and said the process had initially been scheduled for January 15 to February 15. However, fee-payment dates differ among reports, and the original JSSC notice or a dated amendment was not available to resolve the conflict.

| Report | Application deadline reported | Fee-payment deadline reported |
|---|---|---|
| Amar Ujala, January 22, 2024 | February 21, 2024 | February 23, 2024 |
| Hindustan Times, January 15, 2024 | February 21, 2024 | February 16, 2024 |
| Careers360, January 15, 2024 | February 14, 2024 | February 16, 2024 |
These are dates as reported by the named publications, not a confirmed final schedule. The February 21 application deadline appears in two reports, but the varying fee dates and the earlier February 14 application deadline in Careers360’s report make it important not to combine the reports into one definitive timeline.
Reported vacancies: 4,929 or 4,919?
The vacancy count also varies. Amar Ujala reported 4,929 posts, while Careers360 and Hindustan Times each reported 4,919. The original recruitment notification was not available to confirm the total, so neither figure can be presented here as definitive.

Reported fee and age limits
Amar Ujala and Hindustan Times reported an examination fee of ₹100, reduced to ₹50 for Jharkhand candidates in the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe categories. Hindustan Times reported a minimum age of 18 and these upper limits:
- 25 years for unreserved and EWS candidates.
- 27 years for extremely backward and backward classes.
- 28 years for women in specified categories.
- 30 years for SC/ST candidates.
These are summaries in secondary news reports, not verified extracts from the commission’s notice. The precise age cut-off date, category definitions, reservation conditions, and eligibility rules should be checked against the original notification before being relied on.

Reported selection process and physical standards
Careers360 described selection as including a physical efficiency test, a medical test, and a written examination. It reported two written papers, each lasting two hours, with three marks for a correct answer and one mark deducted for an incorrect answer. The same report gave these running standards:
- Men: 10 km in 60 minutes.
- Women: 5 km in 30 minutes.
These particulars come from a secondary report; the original JSSC notification was not available to confirm the stages, paper structure, marking scheme, or physical standards. Candidates checking historical requirements should use the official notice and any dated amendments rather than assume this summary is complete.

What remains unverified
The available reporting does not settle the final vacancy total or fee deadline, nor does it provide primary-source confirmation of detailed age cut-offs, complete eligibility conditions, the syllabus, or later amendments. JSSC’s original recruitment notice is the source needed to verify those particulars. The Government of Jharkhand portal page establishes the commission’s identity, not the 2024 recruitment schedule.
