Which Morgan Stanley chairman died in the sinking?
Jonathan Bloomer was chairman of Morgan Stanley International, a London-based subsidiary—not chairman of Morgan Stanley’s parent company. He and his wife, Judy, were among the seven people who died when the Bayesian sank off Porticello, Sicily, on August 19, 2024. The Independent reported on the couple and the sinking; Fortune described Bloomer’s role at Morgan Stanley International.
What does the reported will say about his beneficiaries?
According to PEOPLE’s report, republished by AOL, based on a copy of the will, Bloomer’s will was dated 1996. It named Judy as sole executor and beneficiary after expenses and debts, provided she survived him by at least 90 days. Because she died in the same sinking, the report says the estate is to be divided equally among their three children: James Bloomer, Helena O’Donnell, and Elizabeth Bloomer. The children were also named administrators, according to the report.
The stated beneficiaries and roles come from media coverage of a will copy; the will itself is not available here for direct verification. The reported terms should not be mistaken for proof that probate has concluded or that the children have received particular amounts.

What were the reported estate figures?
The Economic Times reported in May 2025, citing estate administration documents, that the estate was valued at £6,615,882 gross and £6,551,549 net. The same report described the net figure as approximately $8.7 million. The pound figures are the reported amounts; the dollar figure is an approximate conversion, not a current valuation.
These are reported estate values, not an estimate of Bloomer’s total lifetime wealth or proof that the estate consisted entirely of cash. Gross and net are distinct figures; the available report does not establish the final amount any beneficiary received.

What other provisions were reported?
Gifts to older relatives
The report says the will provided £100,000 each for Bloomer’s parents and his mother-in-law if they were alive when he died. If a named relative had already died, that person’s amount was reportedly to be divided equally among the children.
Fallback if the children did not survive him
If none of the children survived Bloomer, the reported will directed the estate in equal shares to his two brothers and sister-in-law. These provisions are descriptions in the media report, not independently verified quotations from the document.

What is not established about the inheritance?
The available reporting describes the will’s intended distribution and reports estate values from administration documents. It does not establish that the estate has been finally distributed, what each child ultimately received, or whether the reported figures represent a final accounting.
