Why do the reported figures differ?
The reports refer to different contexts and potentially different pools of assets. A probate value concerns property handled through probate; it may not capture assets held in a trust or otherwise outside the will. The $1.4 million figure was reported while Singleton’s conservatorship proceedings were underway. CBS/AP also said he was working on business deals and was due to sign a settlement around April 30, 2019; the court papers reportedly warned that failing to sign could cause financial loss. The report did not give the settlement amount or confirm what happened to it, so it cannot be used to calculate a final estate value.
What can be said about his estate—and what remains unknown?
