A reproduced extension notice gives 7 October 2024 as the last date to apply. That date is different from the 27 August 2025 deadline reported for a later registration campaign.
Which JNVST Class 6 deadline applies?
JNVST is the selection test for admission to Class 6 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). The relevant date depends on the admission session, not just the year shown in a headline.
| Admission campaign | Reported application deadline | What the date means |
|---|---|---|
| 2025–26 session | 7 October 2024 | A reproduced extension notice gives this as the extended closing date for Class 6 applications. The notice appears in a PDF compilation, rather than a directly retrieved NVS archive. See the reproduced notice. |
| Later campaign reported in August 2025 | 27 August 2025 | Hindustan Times reported this deadline for a later registration campaign; it is not the 2025–26 deadline. Read the report. |
A separate Hindustan Times report dated 27 July 2025 gave an earlier deadline of 29 July for that later campaign, before subsequent extensions. Neither later-campaign date should be applied to 2025–26. Read the July report.
Can you still apply for the 2025–26 session?
No. The stated closing date for that session was in October 2024, so a reader checking after that deadline should not expect the 2025–26 application form to remain open. For any active admission cycle, check the latest notice on the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) website and confirm the academic session named in it before relying on a date.

What is JNVST and what kind of schools are JNVs?
JNVST is the entrance selection test for Class 6 admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Prospectus material describes JNVs as co-educational, fully residential schools. View the JNVST 2025 prospectus.
Eligibility and documents: what can be confirmed?
The exact 2025–26 rules for date of birth, residence or district, schooling, and supporting documents are not established by the available 2025–26 materials cited here. Do not assume that requirements from a later cycle apply to this one. For a current application, use the prospectus and notice published for that specific session rather than relying on an older checklist.
