Registration for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) Class VI admission for the 2022–23 academic session opened on 24 September 2021. Applications are now closed: the original deadline of 30 November 2021 was extended to 15 December 2021, according to a contemporaneous report. Families applying for a current admission cycle should use the current NVS admissions portal and that cycle’s prospectus, not the expired 2022 application route.
How the 2022 application worked
Families submitted the form online through the admission portal linked from the official Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) website. The NVS JNV Selection Test 2022 prospectus said registration was free of cost. Applicants had to upload a certificate bearing the candidate’s photograph and the signatures of the candidate and parent or guardian. The prospectus specified JPG attachments of 10–100 KB.
The prospectus said residence, age and eligibility documents would be verified for candidates selected for admission. It is an archived process description, not an application route for a current cycle.

Seats and admissions announced for 2022–23
In 2021, Scroll reported that the NVS notification allowed for up to 80 Class VI admissions through the selection test at each Vidyalaya, subject to the availability of suitable candidates. The reported projected total was approximately 52,880 admissions across 661 sanctioned Vidyalayas for the 2022–23 session. These were notification figures for that cycle, not current seat totals. The sources do not establish an applicant-to-seat ratio or a success rate.

The 2022 registration period has ended, and the current NVS portal does not show a live Class VI application for that cycle. For a new application, check the official NVS website and its current admissions portal, then follow the current cycle’s prospectus for dates, age rules, documents and form requirements. Do not rely on the 2022 dates or eligibility rules for a later exam.
