Is JKSET 2024 registration still open?
No. The 2024 application window has passed. Scroll reported that applications were due by July 5, 2024 without a late fee, or July 9 with a late fee, and cited October 20, 2024 as the exam date. Those were the dates in its June 26, 2024 report, not current deadlines; later changes were also reported, so the initial dates should not be treated as the final official schedule. The agency homepage now displays JKSET/LASET 2026 and an October 25, 2026 exam date. It directs applicants to the University of Kashmir portals. For the current application window, fee and rules, follow the cycle-specific official notice rather than reusing 2024 information. Official agency homepage.
How candidates applied for JKSET/LASET 2024
The 2024 process was online. The agency advised candidates to read the Information Bulletin before starting the form. Its How To Apply page described these steps:

- Select the region and category, then pay: Choose Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh, select the applicable category and pay the fee online.
- Register and upload images: Use the transaction reference and provide the requested photograph and signature.
- Complete and check the form: Enter personal, contact and academic details, category, exam centre and subject. Review the entries before submitting.
- Submit and keep a copy: Print and retain the application form and its identifying details.
The agency said fee receipt by the prescribed deadline was necessary for an application to be considered. It advised candidates to retain the transaction reference, registered mobile number and application number for registration and later login.
Documents and details the 2024 instructions called for
- A government identity number.
- A recent photograph and signature in JPEG/JPG format, each within the stated 50 KB limit.
- The fee transaction reference and registered mobile number used for registration and later login.
- Personal, contact and academic details, along with the selected category, exam centre and subject.
These are historical 2024 instructions. Check the current cycle’s bulletin for its accepted file formats, size limits and required information.

Eligibility and exam format
The agency’s eligibility page states a minimum of 55% in a Master’s degree or equivalent for general eligibility, and 50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates. It also describes provisional applications for candidates awaiting qualifying-degree results, subject to completing the degree at the required marks. Candidates must select their postgraduate subject. Check the rules for the cycle you intend to take before applying. Agency eligibility information.
The agency’s pattern page describes two offline objective papers: a common Paper I on teaching and research aptitude, and a subject-specific Paper II. The page gives Paper I as 50 questions, 100 marks and 60 minutes; Paper II as 100 questions, 200 marks and 120 minutes. It states that each correct answer earns two marks and there is no negative marking. Confirm the pattern against the bulletin for your exam cycle. Agency exam pattern.

The agency’s download index lists the “Information Bulletin JKSET/LASET – 2024.” The bulletin is the appropriate source for detailed cycle rules, including application requirements. Agency downloads. For a new application, use the current official notice and portal; historical fees and deadlines should not be carried forward.
