What the 575-post notification covered
Notification No. 07-PSC(DR-P) of 2024, dated 9 December 2024, advertised 575 Lecturer posts referred by the School Education Department of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The original JKPSC notification lists 238 Open Merit posts and 337 posts across the listed reserved categories. Vacancy counts vary by discipline:

The remaining advertised disciplines were Arabic, Commerce, Dogri, Economics, Education, Functional English, Geography, Geology, History, Kashmiri, Persian, Psychology, Punjabi, Sociology, Statistics and Urdu. Consult the subject-wise and category-wise table in the original JKPSC notification before drawing conclusions about a particular vacancy or reservation category.
Application dates and current status
Online applications were accepted from 10 December 2024 through 9 January 2025. The closing date has passed; the notice is not an open application opportunity.
The original notification said, “The tentative date of examination shall be notified separately.” Later JKPSC portal notices include a postponement notice for Lecturer English and Political Science and 2026 provisional selection notices for Functional English and a withheld Lecturer English post. Those updates are subject-specific; they do not establish the stage or outcome for all 24 disciplines. Check the JKPSC notice list and locate the notice for the relevant subject.
Who was eligible under the notice
Education and domicile
Applicants were required to be domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and hold a master’s degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university. The notification set the application closing date as the cutoff for acquiring domicile certificates and educational or professional qualifications.
Age limits
Age was calculated as of 1 January 2024. The notification set maximum ages of 40 for Open Merit and in-service candidates, 43 for reserved categories, and 42 for PHC candidates. It also specifies birth-date bounds; candidates should consult those exact bounds and the applicable category conditions in the notice rather than relying on the maximum-age figures alone.
Applicants seeking reserved-category consideration needed a valid certificate in the prescribed format. The notification required the certificate to remain valid through the selection process.

Pay and application instructions in the closed notice
The advertised post was at Pay Level 9, with a stated pay range of ₹52,700–₹166,700, according to the JKPSC notice. This is the listed pay scale, not a statement of take-home pay.
During the application window, forms and the fee were submitted online through JKPSC. The notice advised candidates to update their One Time Registration and check eligibility before applying; it also said applicants did not need to send a hard copy of the form or supporting documents to the Commission. These were instructions for the now-closed application process.
