JKPSC advertised 89 Assistant Director (Economics & Statistics) posts in 2024, with online applications opening on 7 March. The original application deadline was later extended from 27 March to 30 March 2024, but 27 March remained the eligibility cut-off. This is a closed recruitment: the written examination was held in August 2024, and JKPSC’s 2025 notice records later interview and result activity.

What was the JKPSC Assistant Director recruitment?

Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) Notification No. 01-PSC (DR-P) of 2024, dated 5 March 2024, advertised 89 Assistant Director (Economics & Statistics) posts in the Planning, Development & Monitoring Department. JKPSC’s 2025 notice recounted the recruitment and gave this category distribution:

Category Posts
OM 44
RBA 8
SC 7
ST 9
EWS 9
PSP 4
ALC/IB 4
SOC 4

The figures and category labels are from JKPSC’s official 2025 notice.

What was the last date to apply?

The application window opened on 7 March 2024. A contemporaneous report initially listed 27 March as the closing date; JKPSC then extended online submission through 30 March. The extension did not change the eligibility cut-off: JKPSC specified that eligibility would still be determined as of 27 March 2024.

The revised deadline and unchanged cut-off appear in JKPSC’s 26 March 2024 extension notice. Applications are no longer being accepted.

What qualifications, age limit and fee were reported?

Scroll’s 6 March 2024 report summarized the qualification as a master’s degree in Economics, Economics and Statistics, Commerce, or Mathematics; an M.Sc. from the Indian Statistical Institute; or an MCA from a recognized university. It also reported that candidates had to be below 40 years of age on 1 January 2024, with upper-age relaxations for reserved categories.

These are secondary-source summaries, not a substitute for the complete official advertisement. The full eligibility wording and all conditions should be checked in JKPSC’s original Notification No. 01-PSC (DR-P) of 2024 on the JKPSC website.

The same Scroll report listed an application fee of ₹1,000 for general candidates, ₹500 for reserved-category candidates, and an exemption for PHC candidates. Treat these as reported figures and verify the applicable rules in the original notification.

What was the exam format and syllabus?

JKPSC scheduled a descriptive written examination from 6 to 21 August 2024. The date sheet identifies four compulsory papers and optional papers across several subjects:

Paper group Subjects listed
Compulsory General English; General Knowledge; General Economics; Theory & Practice of Statistics
Optional Statistics; Economics; Mathematics; Office Management; Computer Science

Use JKPSC’s official examination date sheet for the paper schedule and subject details. The date sheet establishes the paper subjects; consult the official notification and any syllabus material published by JKPSC for the full syllabus rather than treating paper titles as a topic-by-topic syllabus.

Computer Science optional-paper choice

JKPSC separately allowed candidates to choose two optional papers from Computer Science and Applications, with an edit window from 2 to 4 April 2024. The arrangement is documented in the official optional-paper notice.

What happened after the written examination?

JKPSC’s notice dated 16 October 2025 records written examinations for the 2023 and 2024 advertisements, provisional qualification for interview, interview calls, and interview activity. It confirms that the process had advanced beyond the written exam, but does not establish that every candidate’s case or all recruitment outcomes had been resolved by that notice. Candidates seeking an individual status or later result should consult JKPSC’s official notices and results pages.

How to use the exam-paper information

For someone reviewing the recruitment retrospectively or preparing for a future examination with similar papers, distinguish compulsory coverage from optional-paper preparation. Compare any study material against JKPSC’s official paper subjects, the relevant syllabus, and its edition or update date. No particular book or course is endorsed by JKPSC on the basis of the notices cited here.
