Jio Platforms’ June 2026 draft filing proposed a fresh issue of up to 27 crore shares, with the offer price to be set through book building. A ₹1,065–₹1,119 price band, a ₹10.3 lakh crore valuation target and October dates were reported later by financial media citing deal sources; they are not established as final issuer-confirmed terms in the documents reviewed as of October 11, 2026.

What has been officially filed—and what is only reported

Detail Official draft-stage information Later media reporting
Offer structure Reliance Industries said on June 19, 2026 that Jio Platforms’ board approved a Draft Red Herring Prospectus for a proposed fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares, each with a face value of ₹10. The IPO is subject to regulatory approvals. Reliance Industries announcement The Economic Times described the offer as a fresh issue without an offer-for-sale component. Final terms govern the final issue size. The Economic Times, October 9, 2026
Price The issuer said the price would be determined through book building; the June announcement did not set a price band. Reuters, citing four unnamed deal bankers, reported ₹1,065–₹1,119 per share on October 9. This is reported pricing, not a confirmed final band. The Edge Malaysia, carrying Reuters reporting
Proceeds The June announcement specified up to 27 crore fresh shares but did not establish final proceeds. The Economic Times calculated implied gross proceeds of about ₹28,755 crore at ₹1,065 and ₹30,213 crore at ₹1,119, using the maximum 27 crore shares. Reuters separately reported about ₹302 billion (₹30,200 crore) at the top of the reported band. Actual proceeds depend on final offer terms. The Economic Times; Reuters via The Edge Malaysia
Valuation The issuer’s June announcement did not state a valuation target. Reuters reported a ₹10.3 trillion (₹10.3 lakh crore) target valuation, citing four unnamed deal bankers. It is a reported target based on the reported pricing, not a guaranteed market value. Reuters via The Edge Malaysia
Timing The June announcement did not set a public subscription or listing calendar. The Economic Times reported October 21, 2026 as the expected public subscription start and October 28 as a potential listing date. ET Now separately reported October 19 for anchor investors and October 21 for public subscription. These are reported expectations, not confirmed dates. The Economic Times

SEBI’s filing index lists Jio Platforms’ DRHP under draft offer documents filed June 19, 2026. Jio’s investor-relations IPO page lists the DRHP, draft abridged prospectus and an industry report among the issue documents. The existence of those draft materials confirms the filing stage; it does not make later reported price or calendar details final. SEBI filing; Jio IPO page

What the reported ₹30,000 crore issue figure means

The roughly ₹30,000 crore headline is an estimate of gross proceeds if the company sells the maximum 27 crore fresh shares at the reported prices. Applying the reported band to that maximum gives a range of about ₹28,755 crore to ₹30,213 crore, according to The Economic Times. The upper-end figure is close to Reuters’ reported ₹302 billion, or ₹30,200 crore.

These figures are not interchangeable with a final issue size: the offer is still described in draft terms as “up to” 27 crore shares, and its final size and price depend on the final offer terms and book building. Gross proceeds also should not be mistaken for net cash available to the company after offer-related costs.

How the reported valuation relates to the price band

Reuters’ ₹10.3 trillion (₹10.3 lakh crore) figure is a target valuation attributed to four unnamed deal bankers and reported alongside the ₹1,065–₹1,119 band. It is not the amount the IPO will raise: proceeds are the cash from the shares offered, while valuation refers to the implied value of the company under the reported pricing assumptions.

Nor does a target valuation assure the price at which shares will trade after listing. Investors assessing the offer need the final prospectus and offer terms, as well as a view of the company’s financial performance, risks and valuation. The reported number alone is not a buy or sell recommendation.

Where IPO proceeds are reported to go

The Economic Times reported that up to ₹27,500 crore of net proceeds would be used to repay or prepay borrowings at Reliance Jio Infocomm, with remaining proceeds allocated to general corporate purposes subject to a stated cap. This use-of-proceeds account is based on media reporting about the draft; investors should consult the final offer document for the definitive allocation, limits and conditions.

Company scale: useful context, not a valuation verdict

Reuters’ report, republished by The Edge Malaysia, described Jio Platforms’ businesses as spanning mobile services, fixed broadband, cloud, entertainment, enterprise technology and AI. The same report cited 524.4 million telecom customers as of March and FY revenue from operations of ₹1.47 trillion. Those are reported figures; the exact reporting period, scope and definitions should be checked against the prospectus before treating them as prospectus figures. Reuters via The Edge Malaysia

Scale can help explain market interest, but customer count and revenue alone do not establish whether the reported valuation is attractive. A fuller assessment requires the offer document’s financial statements, business and segment details, risks, liabilities, cash flows and shareholding information.

What to check before relying on a price or date

  • Look for the final offer document and issuer or exchange announcements for the confirmed price band, offer size and timetable.
  • Distinguish the DRHP’s draft terms from media reports attributed to unnamed sources.
  • Check the final use-of-proceeds section, including the amount allocated to Reliance Jio Infocomm borrowings and any cap on general corporate purposes.
  • Review the prospectus financials and risk disclosures rather than treating the reported valuation or customer count as an investment conclusion.
