What are the latest Jet2 and Iberia cadet programs?
Jet2 reopened Jet2FlightPath for 2026, saying at least 60 aspiring pilots would be offered training. The program’s initial cohort began after its May 2025 launch. Jet2 says the 2026 course lasts 18 months and is fully funded. Jet2’s 2026 announcement is the source for the latest identified intake and its terms.
Iberia announced the sixth edition of Iberia Cadetes on 23 February 2026, in partnership with FTEJerez. Applications were announced through 8 March 2026. The program combines integrated ATPL training with interest-free financing of approximately half the training cost. Iberia’s sixth-edition announcement describes the call and its broad conditions.

How is the training funded—and what might you owe?
Jet2FlightPath
Jet2 calls its 18-month ATPL course fully funded and says the program lets trainees avoid self-funding flight-training costs described as more than £100,000. That is the airline’s description of the scheme, not a complete statement of every possible personal expense or contractual condition. The announcement does not provide a detailed repayment schedule or specify every cost covered; applicants should check the live program terms rather than assume incidental costs are covered.
Iberia Cadetes
Iberia says it finances approximately 50% of training cost without interest. The cadet repays Iberia’s contribution after training under the program’s terms, with repayment beginning in connection with entry into employment through Iberia Group airlines. The announcement does not give the exact amount, repayment schedule, or all circumstances that could trigger repayment. Those details belong to the legal bases, not the headline funding percentage.

Who is eligible?
Jet2: GCSEs or equivalent, then selection
The 2026 announcement sets a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths and one science subject, or equivalent. It also describes assessments and interviews. The announcement does not list every selection criterion, so meeting the stated education threshold alone should not be treated as admission.
Iberia: degree, language, and work-authorization conditions
The sixth-edition call requires a completed university degree, with the final degree project approved by the application call date. Applicants must have European nationality or permanent authorization to work in Spain and no criminal record. English must be at least B2; applicants who are not Spanish must also have Spanish at C2. Candidates must not have sat ATPL examinations and must be between 157 and 191 cm tall. Confirm how Iberia defines and verifies each requirement in the call’s legal bases.

Where and how is training delivered?
Jet2 says successful applicants complete an 18-month ATPL course in the UK, Spain, or the United States. It names Skyborne Airline Academy, Leading Edge, and FTE Jerez as partners. After ATPL completion, trainees receive type-rating training on an Airbus or Boeing aircraft before becoming Jet2.com pilots, according to the airline.
Iberia’s sixth edition uses integrated ATPL training with FTEJerez in Jerez, Spain, and Iberia says it monitors cadets’ progress. Its announcement does not provide a comparable course duration or aircraft type-rating schedule.

What do the announcements say about selection and employment?
Jet2 identifies assessments and interviews after its academic threshold and describes a path from training through type rating to becoming a Jet2.com pilot. The airline reported 18,000 applications for 60 places in the inaugural 2025 intake and said more than 20% of successful candidates that year were women. These are company-reported figures about the first year, not independently audited selection statistics or a forecast of 2026 competition.
Iberia’s announcement says the airline will facilitate cadets’ entry into employment through Iberia Group airlines after training, subject to the program’s requirements. That wording is not the same as a guaranteed job offer. The announcement does not report a sixth-edition applicant count or number of places.

Can you apply now?
Iberia’s announced deadline was 8 March 2026, so that specific call is closed. Jet2’s February 2026 announcement says the program reopened and that courses start in 2026, but it does not establish whether applications remain open on 8 October 2026. Check Jet2’s official careers information for a live vacancy or new application window, and check Iberia’s employment site for a later edition. Do not rely on an old announcement as proof that a form is still accepting applications.
Which program may fit your situation?
- Consider Jet2FlightPath if you meet its stated GCSE or equivalent threshold, want a UK, Spain, or US training location, and are seeking a route Jet2 describes as fully funded and leading to Jet2.com employment after type rating. Confirm current availability and the full contract terms first.
- Consider Iberia Cadetes if you meet the degree, work-authorization, language, exam-history, criminal-record, and height requirements and can accept repaying Iberia’s interest-free contribution under the program terms. The sixth-edition deadline has passed, so look for a subsequent call.
The programs cannot be ranked on training quality, completion rates, total personal cost, or employment certainty from the announcements alone. The most decision-relevant difference is financial: Jet2 describes full funding, while Iberia describes partial interest-free financing that is repaid under its terms.
