Her comment that the milestone meant she would “need to pay more tax” was a joke—not tax advice or a disclosure of what she owes.
How Thitikul crossed the $20 million mark
The LPGA’s October 5, 2026 recap says the victory pushed Thitikul past $20 million in official career earnings. It was her 11th LPGA Tour title and her fourth win of 2026. LPGA tournament recap
Golfweek senior writer Beth Ann Nichols reported the exact career-earnings total as $20,210,011 and described Thitikul as the sixth LPGA player to pass $20 million. The LPGA recap confirms that she crossed the threshold but does not give that exact figure in its available text. Nichols’s report, syndicated by Yahoo Sports
What she meant by the tax remark
Asked about the milestone, Thitikul joked, “That means I need to pay more tax,” and laughed, according to Nichols. She also clarified: “I’m not earning like $20 [million]. I’m earning less, OK guys? I’m not that rich.” The remarks distinguish a reported career-earnings tally from the money she personally takes home.

Official career prize money is not the same as net worth or after-tax income. The reports do not establish Thitikul’s tax residence, taxable income, withholding, deductions, or actual tax owed, so her personal tax bill cannot be inferred from the milestone.
Why the distinction matters
A career-earnings figure tracks money won over a player’s career; it does not, by itself, say how much remains after taxes or other costs. In Thitikul’s case, the LPGA confirms the official-earnings threshold, while Nichols supplies the precise reported total and the context for her quip. Neither report presents her remark as a substantive explanation of tax rules.
