What reason did JBS give?
JBS described the decision as part of a strategic initiative to optimize its value-added and case-ready business and simplify operations across its network. The company’s statement on the Riverside decision does not identify low cattle supply as its reason, so that explanation should not be attributed to this closure. JBS Foods, June 12, 2026
What does a California WARN notice mean?
California EDD guidance says covered employers generally must provide written notice 60 days before a plant closing or mass layoff. Notices go to affected workers or their representative, the state dislocated worker unit, and relevant local officials and workforce bodies. This is general guidance, not a separate legal determination about Swift Beef’s filing. California EDD WARN guidance
