The estate sits beside a Malibu property he bought for $100 million in 2019, bringing the reported prices of the two purchases to $187 million combined.
How much did Jan Koum pay for the house next door?
Contemporary reports put the February 2021 sale at $87 million. The Los Angeles Times reported the sale, while Fox Business attributed its report to people familiar with the deal. Those accounts support $87 million—not the $77 million figure in the original headline.
The price should not be confused with the property’s reported $125 million asking price before the sale. The Real Deal identified the estate as 27560 Pacific Coast Highway and reported that it had been listed for $125 million.
Where is the property, and what did it include?
The estate is in Malibu overlooking Paradise Cove. The Los Angeles Times described a three-acre property with a single-story main house, a three-story guesthouse, a guardhouse, and 256 feet of beach frontage. It also reported that a funicular connected the property to the beach.

How does the purchase compare with Koum’s other Malibu estate?
Koum bought the neighboring estate from entertainment executive Ron Meyer for a reported $100 million in 2019, according to the Los Angeles Times and Fox Business. Adding that purchase to the $87 million 2021 transaction gives a combined reported purchase price of $187 million.
A 2024 SFGate account characterized the two side-by-side Paradise Cove properties as a nearly $200 million investment. That is a rounded description of the pair, not the price of the 2021 house alone.

Who sold the 2021 estate?
The Los Angeles Times and Fox Business identified Diana Jenkins as the seller. The Los Angeles Times also reported that the property had previously been owned by Barry Diller and Kenny Rogers.

The figures describe reported past transactions: $87 million for the 2021 estate and $100 million for its neighboring property in 2019. They do not establish a current market valuation or confirm who owns either property today. The cited accounts are journalistic reports, not a deed or current assessor record.
