What opened and where
PerthNow reported on December 10, 2023, that Lygon Lane had opened that week on Bay View Terrace in Claremont. Chan opened the restaurant with her daughters, Julia and Adele Pui. The Town of Claremont also referred to the planned Italian-Asian restaurant at that location in a November 2023 council record.
How Melbourne’s Lygon Street inspired the concept
The idea drew on the Italian food and cultural associations of Melbourne’s Lygon Street, reworked with Asian flavours for a Perth restaurant. It was an inspiration rather than a claim that Lygon Lane replicated the Melbourne precinct. Chan described the pairing as a project for a team passionate about food, saying the two cuisines “go very well together.”
What the opening menu and drinks included
One specific example in the opening report was pasta with lap cheong, a smoky Chinese dried sausage; Chan named it as her favourite dish. The article also described a cosy wine-bar atmosphere, Italian wines and signature cocktails, including an Italian spritz with yuzu. These details illustrate the concept, but do not amount to a complete menu.

Why Chan chose Claremont
Chan said she had been part of the Claremont community for more than eight years and wanted to offer something different to local residents and people in surrounding suburbs. The PerthNow story identified her as the founder of Miss Chow’s and placed Lygon Lane within her hospitality work.
