What the 2024 ITBP Assistant Surgeon recruitment covered
The recruitment was for Assistant Surgeon (Assistant Commandant/Veterinary), described as a Central Government Group-A, Gazetted Combatised Post (Non-Ministerial). Scroll reported a total of 27 posts; that figure was not independently confirmed against the matching official notification. Scroll’s report was published on November 29, 2024, and a separate report published on the deadline day also said applications would close that day.
Eligibility and fee details reported at the time
Scroll reported that applicants needed a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from a recognized university, plus registration with the Veterinary Council of India. It also reported an upper age limit of 35 and said reserved-category relaxations applied. The exact age calculation date and individual relaxation rules are not established here.
According to the same report, male applicants in the UR, OBC, and EWS categories paid a ₹400 application fee. SC, ST, female, and ex-servicemen applicants were reported as exempt. These eligibility and fee summaries are attributed to the contemporaneous report because the matching official Assistant Surgeon notification was not recovered.

Check the post name, eligibility and registration requirements, age cutoff and relaxations, category-wise vacancies, fee rules, opening and closing times, and selection stages for that notice. Details from other ITBP recruitments should not be assumed to apply to the 2024 Assistant Surgeon post.
