It may be a scam if someone asks you to pay for an Amazon job, pressures you to act immediately, contacts you through an unverified account, or offers a role you cannot independently find on Amazon Jobs. Amazon India says it charges no recruitment fee at any stage. Verify the opening through Amazon’s official careers site before sharing more information or responding to the recruiter.
Warning signs of an Amazon recruiting scam
Amazon India describes recruitment fraud involving fictitious job offers sent through bogus websites or unsolicited emails. Scammers may imitate recruiters, use Amazon’s name or logo, ask for personal information, and later demand money.

Amazon India lists these warning signs:
- A free webmail account is used for recruiting contact.
- A supposed senior executive or HR officer contacts you from an address that does not end in
@amazon.com. - Someone contacts you through a mobile or platform telephone number, WhatsApp, or Telegram.
- The recruiter asks for money, perhaps calling it a security deposit, documentation or training fee, uniform, laptop, or Mediclaim charge.
- The person insists that you act urgently.
These are indicators to investigate, not proof by themselves. In particular, an address ending in @amazon.com does not by itself guarantee that a message or offer is genuine. Amazon India’s fraud alert explains the warning signs and fee policy.

How to verify an Amazon job offer
- Find the opening independently. Search by job title or keyword and location on Amazon Jobs. Do not rely on a link supplied by the person who contacted you as independent verification. Check that the role details match the message.
- Check whether the hiring stage makes sense. Compare the message with Amazon’s hiring overview. Amazon describes online applications, assessments, phone screening, and interview loops as possible stages, while noting that the process varies by role. A stage that differs from this outline is not conclusive on its own, but you should verify it through the official site.
- Reject requests for payment. Amazon India states: “At Amazon, we don’t charge a fee at any stage of our recruitment process.” Do not pay or transfer money to obtain a job, whatever the requested fee is called.
- If the offer is in India, check the document portal. Amazon India’s alert says that an Amazon offer letter and related documents can only be downloaded from
joining.docs.amazon.com. This is guidance in the India-specific alert; the cited source does not establish it as a worldwide rule. - Share personal information only through a verified channel. Amazon’s candidate privacy notice describes recruiting data that can include identity and contact details, a résumé, background-check information, and assessment results, as well as recruiting support providers. A request for candidate information is not automatically fraudulent; verify the role and contact channel before providing it.
What to do if a message seems suspicious
- Do not pay or transfer money, and stop engaging with anyone who is soliciting payment under the pretext of an Amazon job.
- Limit any further sharing of personal information while you independently check the opening and contact.
- Amazon’s global recruiting FAQ includes a question about suspected fraudulent job offers, but a candidate-facing answer or reporting channel could not be verified in the page content available here. Do not use a reporting email or contact method unless you have verified it through an official Amazon source.
