There is no verified evidence that the 2TB Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Xbox is half price on October 8, 2026. The latest dated deal reports in the available record show prices of $259.99 and $299.99 against a cited $349.99 reference price—and one listing was out of stock. Check the retailer’s live price and availability before treating it as a deal.
What the deal reports actually show
The product is Seagate’s 2TB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S, model STJR2000400. The dated prices below are historical, not confirmed offers for today.
| Report date and retailer | Reported price | Compared with | What the report establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| June 25, 2026 — Amazon, as reported by Windows Central | $259.99 | $349.99; reported as $90 or 26% off | A past deal, not an October price. |
| August 2026 — Best Buy, as listed in the Windows Central price tracker | $299.99 | $349.99 | The listing was marked out of stock. |
| Spring 2026 — Amazon Gaming Week, covered by Windows Central | $274.99 | $349.99 | The reported promotion period ran April 27 to May 4, 2026; it has passed. |
None of these reports verifies a current half-price offer. Before buying, confirm the exact model, final checkout price, seller, and stock on the retailer’s live listing. A claimed discount depends on its stated reference price; compare the current price across retailers rather than relying on a sale label alone.
What the 2TB card does
The Seagate card plugs into the Xbox Series X|S expansion storage slot. Seagate says setup is automatic and requires no additional formatting steps. Its product information says the card matches the console’s internal SSD performance, supports Quick Resume, and lets players store and launch Series X|S optimized games directly from the card. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. See Seagate’s product page and FAQ.

That direct-play capability is the key difference from a generic external USB drive. Seagate says USB storage can hold Series X|S optimized games, but those games must be transferred to the console’s internal storage or a compatible expansion card to play. A USB drive may still suit a player who mainly wants inexpensive space for older games or a place to park titles between play sessions; it is not a like-for-like substitute for this card’s direct-play function.
Check the model, capacity, and included items
Seagate’s data sheet identifies the 2TB version as model STJR2000400. It lists Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S as the system requirement, a three-year limited warranty, and a protective cover and quick-start guide in the package. Seagate also notes that formatting and other functions use some of the nominal capacity, so the full advertised 2TB is not available for storing games. See the Seagate data sheet.

Seagate lists 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB card capacities, but the dated deal reports above do not provide a consistent current price comparison across those sizes. Compare live prices for the capacity you need instead of assuming the 2TB model has the best cost per terabyte. Windows Central’s August tracker also discusses WD_BLACK C50 expansion cards; verify the capacity, compatibility, price, and availability of any alternative on its current manufacturer or retailer listing.

For someone who wants to keep Series X|S optimized games installed and playable without moving them between drives, the expansion card offers the intended console-compatible option. Whether the 2TB model is worth its price depends on how much space is needed and how often games are rotated. If a lower-cost USB drive meets the need because games can be moved before play, the card’s direct-play convenience may not justify the extra cost.

- This refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, and may arrive in a generic box
Do not treat the headline’s “half price” wording as confirmed: the available dated prices are not half of the cited $349.99 reference, and no live October 8, 2026 retailer price or stock was verified. The model’s use with a suitable PC adapter is mentioned by third-party coverage, but that configuration is not independently validated here; it is designed for Xbox, so do not buy it as conventional PC storage without confirming compatibility and support.
