Which Rivian R1S has about 1,000 horsepower?

Yahoo Autos also reports a 2.6-second 0–60 mph time for the 2026 Quad. That is a published figure, not an independently verified test result in the information available here.
Is the Quad actually cheaper than a base R1S?
That comparison is not established. Yahoo Autos reports the 2026 R1S Quad at $121,990, but a current official base-model price and a matched configuration comparison are not available to verify whether the Quad is cheaper. A price reported by an outlet is not necessarily a live manufacturer quote. It may reflect a particular model year, market, or configuration, and the reported figure alone does not establish what a buyer would pay after destination charges or other equipment.
Why the historical base price does not settle it
Electrive reported a $78,000 starting price for a 2023 R1S Dual-Motor with the Standard battery on July 25, 2023. That is a historical price for a specified older configuration, not a current base price. Comparing it with Yahoo Autos’ reported 2026 Quad price would mix different model years, motor configurations, and battery specifications; it cannot show that the Quad undercuts today’s entry model. How to check a real price comparison
Before deciding that a high-output trim is cheaper, compare written quotes or current listings on the same basis. The necessary details include:
- Model year and market: Confirm the vehicles are sold for the same model year and geography, and record the quote date.
- Motor and battery configuration: Identify the number of motors and the battery or range version. A historical Dual-Motor Standard configuration is not interchangeable with a Quad.
- Included equipment: Check whether options or packages are included in one price but not the other.
- Destination and other charges: Compare the same price basis, including any destination charges shown on the quote.
- Availability: Verify that both configurations can actually be ordered at the stated prices; a reported figure is not proof of current availability.
Without those matched details, a price gap—or a claim that one trim is cheaper—cannot be calculated reliably.

What the Lucid Gravity comparison does and does not show
MotorTrend reports that the 2027 Lucid Gravity GT-S has 1,070 hp and a $127,750 starting price. Those figures provide context for another powerful three-row electric SUV, but they do not verify the R1S Quad’s price against a base R1S: the vehicles and configurations are different, and the figures are not a like-for-like Rivian comparison.
