Phlebotomy Career Training appears to be a real training provider, but the available evidence does not independently confirm its current Michigan license or establish that it is institutionally accredited. Its own materials say it is seeking accreditation, and its course page says students must secure their own internship. Treat legitimacy as a set of separate checks—not a single yes-or-no label—and confirm licensing, exam eligibility, clinical placement, full cost and refund terms, and employer acceptance before paying.
What the available records establish—and what they do not
The school’s FAQ says Phlebotomy Career Training opened in 2009 and gives Michigan proprietary-school license number 8604000933. Those are claims made by the school; the available information does not independently confirm the license’s current status or renewal. A Michigan LARA healthcare directory from January 2014 lists the school at a Garden City address, but that historical listing does not establish a current proprietary-school license.
In an April 18, 2026 article, the provider says it is now styled PCT Institute of Healthcare, formerly Phlebotomy Career Training, and claims its courses remain approved and licensed in Michigan. That is also the school’s statement, not a current regulator confirmation. Ask Michigan’s relevant licensing office to verify the legal entity, license number, status, renewal and any restrictions.
“Licensed,” “accredited” and “certified” are different claims
A state license concerns whether a school may operate under applicable state rules. Institutional accreditation is a separate review of an educational institution. Exam eligibility concerns whether a student can sit for a particular test, while certification is a credential issued by an outside organization. One does not automatically establish the others.

The school FAQ says it is seeking accreditation through ABHES and NCCA. Other school material surfaced in search describes NCCT as an accrediting organization and names additional testing or certification bodies. These statements are not equivalent, and the available evidence does not independently verify them. Ask the school to identify each organization’s exact role and verify the school or program in that organization’s own current directory.
What the course page says about training and internships
The school describes its phlebotomy technician program as 200 clock hours. That is a course specification reported by the provider, not an independently validated outcome or a guarantee of employment, exam eligibility or acceptance by an employer.

- What counts as an acceptable internship site and supervisor?
- How many procedures or venipunctures must be completed, and how must they be documented?
- What is the deadline for completing the placement?
- Does the school arrange placements, or does it only provide assistance?
- What happens if you cannot secure an acceptable site?
How to check the total financial commitment
Do not judge affordability from tuition alone. Request a written breakdown before signing or paying, including course tuition, required fees, materials, exam charges, and any other costs. Ask which items are included and which are paid separately. Get the refund policy in writing, including deadlines and any conditions that affect how much you can recover if you withdraw.

Verify that the credential fits your career plan
Requirements and employer preferences can vary by location and workplace. Before enrolling, contact employers where you plan to apply and, where relevant, the licensing authority in that jurisdiction. Ask whether they accept this specific program and which exam or external certification they require or prefer. A course completion certificate should not be assumed to meet a particular employer’s or jurisdiction’s requirements.

BBB says profile information is not verified and that it does not endorse the business. These details may be one input when evaluating a provider, but a rating or accreditation status from BBB does not verify a state school license or recognized educational accreditation.
A separate 2022 Louisiana Board of Regents record refers to Phlebotomy Career Training Academy, LLC in Lafayette. That is a separately named Louisiana provider; do not treat its record as proof about the Michigan school.

- Settle the internship question. Confirm site and supervisor criteria, required procedures, documentation, deadlines and what support the school actually provides.
- Check acceptance where you intend to work. Ask likely employers or the appropriate jurisdictional authority whether they accept the program and the exam or credential you plan to pursue.
