Reviewers praised its fresh, sweet-tart raspberry flavor and easy-to-spread texture. That makes it a promising treat if taste is your priority; the evidence does not make it an obvious value buy. The price and stock figures below are historical, not current.
What is As Ever Raspberry Spread?
As Ever calls the product a raspberry “spread.” It is also commonly described as jam or preserves, though those terms can carry different meanings in food standards and composition; they are not automatically interchangeable in every technical or legal context.
The April 2025 launch announcement listed a keepsake-packaged version at a suggested retail price of $14 and said a non-keepsake jar would follow for $9. The Kitchn later reported the non-keepsake jar at $9 for 7.6 ounces in June 2025. Those are launch-era and review-era prices, not a verified current price. The available reporting does not establish the product’s current stock, shipping, formulation, or marketplace availability.
The Press Herald’s April 2025 account listed raspberries, organic cane sugar, organic lemon juice concentrate, and fruit pectin. Only the sugar and lemon juice concentrate are identified as organic in that declaration; the report specifically noted that the raspberries and pectin were not identified as organic.

How does it taste?
In The Washington Post’s 2025 blind tasting, three pastry professionals assessed eight raspberry spreads for color, texture, flavor, and overall appeal, scoring each from 1 to 10. As Ever received 27.7 out of 30. The panel liked its fragrant raspberry character and sweet-tart balance, and described a softer pink color and loose texture. The tasters did not consider that thinner texture a problem.
The Kitchn’s Ali Domrongchai separately tried the spread on toast, by itself, and in raspberry thumbprint cookies. She described a fresh-raspberry, sweet-tart taste and a thinner-than-typical jam texture that was easy to spread. These are the reviewers’ evaluations, not a guarantee that every buyer will prefer it.

- Easy to spread, enjoy this preserve on toast, biscuits, muffins, cheese, pastries or even as a cake filling. Pairs well with Parmigiano-Reggiano, Brie, or Cream Cheeses.
- Ingredients: Sugar, Raspberries, Gelling Agent: Citrus Pectin; Acidity Regulator: Sodium Citrate. Gluten free, made in a nut free factory, suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
- 12 ounce jar.
- The Wilkin family has been farming in Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and making quality preserves since 1885. Majority of the fruit used in Tiptree jars are grown on their own farm, ensuring fruit is hand picked with care at the most optimal time.
Pastry chef Rochelle Cooper offered a useful standard for judging a preserve: “A good fruit preserve has a depth of flavor that showcases that particular fruit,” she says. “The texture should be gelled enough to have some body, but not so far that you can cut it or it holds its shape.” The tasting panel’s favorable notes suggest As Ever landed on the looser, fruit-forward side of that balance.
How does it compare on price and score?
The close score gap matters: the panel’s result supports a favorable assessment of As Ever, but not a claim that it decisively outperformed a less expensive option. The Press Herald calculated As Ever’s 2025 price at $1.18 per ounce from the reported $9, 7.6-ounce jar, before shipping. Its account put Trader Joe’s at 26 cents per ounce at the time. These are historical figures, not current shelf prices.

The tasting scores reflect one panel and setup, not a market-wide survey or universal ranking. The judges criticized Bonne Maman’s sweetness in this tasting; that finding should not be treated as a verdict on what all consumers will enjoy. The tested spreads broadly combined fruit, sweetener, an acid, and pectin. Lemon juice can add tartness, flavor, and fragrance, while acid also interacts with pectin.

For toast
If you want a raspberry spread with a fresh-fruit impression and a thinner, easy-to-spread consistency, the reviewers’ accounts point in As Ever’s favor. If your main goal is a familiar raspberry preserve at a lower cost, Trader Joe’s was nearly tied in the blind tasting and had a much lower reported 2025 price per ounce.

For baking
The Kitchn writer used it in thumbprint cookies, so there is a reported use beyond toast. Its looser texture may appeal where a spreadable filling is useful, but the cited coverage does not establish how it performs in every recipe or provide a side-by-side baking test against other brands.

What should you check before paying?
- Current price and jar size: Compare the live price per ounce rather than relying on the 2025 figures; shipping can change the effective cost.
- Current availability: The April 2025 launch release said the products shipped across the 50 U.S. states at launch and that global expansion was planned. That is not a current shipping guarantee.
- Current ingredients: The ingredient declaration cited in 2025 may not confirm the formulation in a jar sold now; check the product label.
- Who sells it: As Ever launched its collection in partnership with Netflix’s CPG division, but Elle reported in March 2026 that Netflix had stepped back and the brand would continue independently. Do not assume Netflix currently owns, sells, or manufactures the product.
