Marvel’s new Marvel Comics app, developed by WEBTOON, is scheduled to launch November 16, 2026. Marvel Unlimited is reported to sunset on December 7, with access to the old library reportedly continuing through December 21 so members can check their imports. The replacement requires a new account, and readers should not assume their subscription or payment details will move automatically.

Is Marvel Unlimited shutting down?

Marvel Unlimited is being replaced by the Marvel Comics app. The app’s November 16, 2026 launch date is confirmed in WEBTOON’s October 5 announcement. The December 7 sunset date for Marvel Unlimited, and access to its old library through December 21, come from a Los Angeles Times report published October 6, 2026, not the launch announcement. Check Marvel’s FAQ for any updated shutdown or migration instructions.

The dates mark a transition for a service that began as Marvel Digital Comics in 2007, according to the Los Angeles Times. The new app is developed by WEBTOON, which entered agreements with Disney to build and operate a digital comics platform for Disney properties including Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios.

What is replacing Marvel Unlimited?

The replacement is the Marvel Comics app, scheduled to launch November 16, 2026. WEBTOON says its library will include more than 35,000 digital comics and support both traditional page-by-page reading and vertical scrolling. The announced U.S. subscription prices are plus tax, and availability and final details may vary by region.

How much will the Marvel Comics app cost?

Both subscriptions include the full digital library. Their main differences are price and how soon new issues become available after print.

Plan Monthly price Annual price New issues after print Library
Base $9.99 plus tax $69.99 plus tax As soon as three months Full digital library
Ultimate $12.49 plus tax $99.99 plus tax As soon as one month Full digital library

These prices and release windows are from WEBTOON’s October 5, 2026 announcement. Base costs less but has a longer wait for new issues; Ultimate is the option for readers who want them sooner.

Founders Offer for Ultimate Annual

Marvel’s announced Founders Offer is $59.99 plus tax for the first year of Ultimate Annual, described as 40% off. It is a limited pre-order offer, not the regular annual rate. After redeeming the code, the plan automatically renews at $99.99 plus tax per year unless canceled. The code expires March 31, 2027 ET. Check Marvel’s FAQ for current availability and terms before purchasing.

Will comics and reading history transfer?

Marvel says readers can create a new account and import their library, follows, reading history, saved issues, purchases, and redemptions. Bookmarks and lists will not transfer, so save those separately if you rely on them. The FAQ describes what can be imported, but readers should follow the service’s in-app instructions when they are available rather than assume the import happens automatically.

Do I need a new account, and will my subscription carry over?

Yes, Marvel says users will need a new account for the Marvel Comics service; an existing Marvel Unlimited account does not transfer automatically. The Los Angeles Times reports that subscription credentials and payment information will not automatically carry over. Marvel’s FAQ says it will share subscriber next steps in the coming weeks, but does not yet provide complete cancellation, refund, or billing instructions for every member.

Watch the email associated with your membership and Marvel’s official support updates for account-specific directions. Do not assume a recurring payment will stop, a payment method will transfer, or a refund is due based on the information currently published; confirm the applicable steps with Marvel.

What to do before Marvel Unlimited closes

  1. Keep an eye on official updates. Check the Marvel FAQ and the email address associated with your membership for revised dates and subscriber instructions.
  2. Create a new Marvel Comics account after the app launches. Your Marvel Unlimited account will not automatically become the new account.
  3. Use the import flow. Import your library, follows, reading history, saved issues, purchases, and redemptions.
  4. Save bookmarks and lists separately. Marvel says these personal items will not transfer.
  5. Review your billing instructions directly with Marvel. The FAQ has not yet laid out complete cancellation or refund steps, so do not infer what to do with a current subscription from the migration announcement.
  6. Choose a plan based on your reading habits. Base is less expensive; Ultimate makes new issues available sooner after print.

If the reported transition dates hold, the old library will remain accessible until December 21, 2026, after the reported December 7 sunset, giving members time to check whether imports worked. Confirm that window with Marvel because it is reported by the Los Angeles Times and may change.
