A 2025 recall covered one lot of S. Martinelli & Co. apple juice: 10-ounce bottles sold in four-packs, with UPC 0 41244 04102 2 and a best-by date of December 5, 2026. If your bottle matches the package and identifiers below, do not drink it; follow the recall instructions for a return or safe disposal. This is a historical recall, not a new 2026 announcement.
Which Martinelli’s apple juice bottles were recalled?
Check all of the identifying details, not just the brand or date. The recalled product was described as:
- Product: S. Martinelli & Co. apple juice
- Package: clear, round glass bottle with a white metal screw-top lid
- Size and pack: 10-ounce bottles sold in four-packs
- UPC: 0 41244 04102 2
- Best-by date: December 5, 2026
The recall concerned one lot produced in December 2023. A December 2026 date by itself is not enough to identify a bottle as recalled; compare the UPC, bottle, size and four-pack configuration as well. The FDA Enforcement Report entry for event 96542 is the official record to check for current recall status and details.
Why was the juice recalled?
Routine FDA testing indicated the juice may contain elevated patulin, a naturally occurring substance produced by molds that can grow in apples. The concern was potential elevated patulin; the available recall information does not establish that every bottle was contaminated or state a measured concentration.

What does Class II mean?
The recall was listed as Class II. FDA defines a Class II recall as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” This classification describes the FDA’s assessment of the recall; it does not confirm that a particular bottle contains patulin.
What should you do if you have a matching bottle?
- Do not drink it. Keep it separate from other food and do not give it to another person, a food bank or a pet.
- Follow the product-specific recall instructions. FDA says recalled food can often be returned to the store for a refund. If it cannot be returned, dispose of it properly; see FDA’s food recall guidance.
- Contact a healthcare provider if you feel sick. FDA advises people who have symptoms and believe an FDA-regulated product made them ill to seek medical advice.
For updates, check the FDA recalls, market withdrawals and safety alerts page and its Enforcement Report. FDA notes that the public recall-alert page does not include every recall and that older alerts may be archived.
