Nissan says it intends to cultivate and expand Infiniti, its luxury division, and has named several future models. That is a statement of strategy, not a guarantee that every vehicle or launch date will hold.
Is Nissan discontinuing Infiniti?
Nissan has not announced that it is shutting down Infiniti. Its portfolio strategy says, “INFINITI remains a powerful asset that we will cultivate and expand.” The statement appears on Nissan’s global portfolio strategy page.

Nissan’s April 2026 long-term vision likewise says, “INFINITI will remain an important pillar within Nissan’s global product strategy.” It describes plans to revitalize the brand with new and refreshed models. Nissan’s long-term vision is the clearest current indication of its stated direction.
What future Infiniti models has Nissan named?
Nissan’s April 2026 vision identifies three planned products:

- 2027 QX65: An all-new model. Nissan previously said the QX65 would join the North American range in FY2026, but that fiscal-year timing is not the same as the later 2027 model-year framing. The current vision uses 2027. Nissan’s April 2026 vision and its earlier QX65 announcement provide the respective timings.
- Premium sports sedan: Nissan has named a new model in this category.
- Luxury hybrid compact SUV: Nissan says it plans this vehicle by the end of 2028.
These are announced intentions and timelines, not proof that each product will arrive exactly as described.
Why do people think Infiniti might be shut down?
Nissan is restructuring and plans to streamline its overall product range from 56 models to 45. That reduction can prompt questions about individual brands, but Nissan’s portfolio strategy specifically describes Infiniti as an asset it intends to expand—not a brand it says it will eliminate. Nissan’s portfolio strategy sets out both points.

Nissan’s Re:Nissan recovery plan focuses on improving business performance, revising product and market strategy, and building a leaner, more resilient company. Restructuring is relevant context, but it does not amount to an announcement that Infiniti is closing. Nissan’s description of Re:Nissan explains the broader effort.

Infiniti has faced performance challenges. In its FY2024 results Q&A, Nissan acknowledged the brand’s low sales volume, said resources had been spread too thin, and described plans to give Infiniti more attention through focused resources and synergies with Nissan. Nissan’s FY2024 investor Q&A supports that context; it does not say the company plans to close the brand.
Nissan’s announcements establish its current intent, not the outcome. Infiniti’s future depends in part on whether Nissan can carry out the product plan and whether the brand performs commercially. A corporate strategy can change, and the existence of planned models cannot guarantee future financial results or delivery dates.
