China Construction Bank Corporation’s official shareholder information identifies its Hong Kong-listed H-shares as ticker 939 and its Shanghai-listed A-shares as ticker 601939. The reviewed parent-company materials do not identify an ADR for China Construction Bank Corporation. The ADR ticker SUHJY belongs to the separately named China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited—not the parent bank.

Does China Construction Bank Corporation have an ADR?

The parent bank’s shareholder FAQ lists its H-shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as ticker 939 and its A-shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange as ticker 601939. It does not identify a parent-company ADR. See China Construction Bank’s General Shareholder Information.

The distinction matters because another company with a similar name does have an ADR. China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited’s 2024/25 annual report states that its shares are listed in Hong Kong and traded over the counter in the United States in ADR form; it identifies the ADR symbol as SUHJY and the CUSIP as 86676H302. The report names China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited as the company whose shares those receipts represent. It does not establish an ADR for China Construction Bank Corporation. See the Asia company’s 2024/25 annual report.

What is the difference between CCB’s Hong Kong shares and the SUHJY ADR?

Security Issuer Type and venue Identifier established by the cited sources
H-shares China Construction Bank Corporation Shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Ticker 939
A-shares China Construction Bank Corporation Shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange Ticker 601939
SUHJY ADR China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited Shares listed in Hong Kong; traded over the counter in the United States in ADR form ADR ticker SUHJY; CUSIP 86676H302

The first two are share classes of China Construction Bank Corporation. An ADR is a depositary receipt associated with a particular issuer and underlying-share arrangement. SUHJY is documented for the Asia company, so it should not be treated as a US-traded substitute for the parent bank’s Hong Kong H-shares.

How to check a CCB security before placing an order

  1. Read the full legal issuer name. Confirm whether the security is China Construction Bank Corporation or China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited; similar branding is not enough to establish that two securities represent the same company.
  2. Check the security type and ticker. The parent’s official FAQ identifies H-shares as 939 in Hong Kong and A-shares as 601939 in Shanghai. SUHJY is identified in the Asia company’s annual report as that company’s ADR ticker.
  3. Review the broker’s order details. Confirm the exchange or market, trading currency, settlement terms, availability, and fees with your broker. These details can depend on the broker and are not established by the issuer disclosures cited here.

What is not established about a parent-company ADR

The cited parent-company materials do not establish an ADR ratio or a depositary-bank arrangement for China Construction Bank Corporation. They also do not establish broker-specific access, trading costs, or settlement terms. Do not infer those details from the separate SUHJY listing.
