Is Chase Down? App and Website Access Problems, Checks and Fixes

The available evidence does not confirm a nationwide Chase outage. Learn how to tell a service problem from app compatibility, browser, network or sign-in issues.

Status checked October 3, 2026: The available evidence does not confirm a system-wide U.S. outage affecting Chase. A Downdetector status page for the U.K. did not show a current problem when checked, but that is not an official U.S. service notice and cannot establish availability for every customer. Some users have reported app compatibility and sign-in verification problems on older Android phones; those reports are anecdotal, not confirmation of a broad outage.

If you cannot get in, first compare the app with Chase.com, try a different network, and check whether the issue is limited to one device or the sign-in verification step. Do not repeat a payment or transfer while its status is unclear.

Is Chase down right now?

The evidence available for this update does not establish a confirmed nationwide Chase outage. Chase offers consumer account access through its website and Chase Mobile app, but an individual failure to sign in does not show that all Chase services are unavailable. The available third-party status result is for the U.K., not a verified U.S. incident page: Downdetector’s Chase status page.

Outage-reporting services reflect user reports rather than official confirmation. Downdetector groups reports under categories such as app, login, transfers, online banking and website; a rise in reports can be a useful signal, but it does not prove that Chase has declared an outage. See its Chase report map.

There is no verified, current service-by-service status in the evidence available here for balances, bill pay, Zelle, credit-card payments, card controls, mobile deposit, ATMs or card authorization. A problem with the app or website does not automatically mean card transactions or ATM services are down, and those services should not be assumed to be working without current confirmation.

What customers are reporting

August 2026 posts in a Reddit discussion about the Chase app on Android describe some older phones losing app access after an update and website sign-in becoming difficult when approval is requested through the app. Other customers in those reports said the website still worked, and some described intermittent username or password errors. These are individual accounts, not a Chase-confirmed incident or proof that all older Android devices are affected.

Another August 2026 discussion of website and app login includes reports of inconsistent access. Reports can help identify a pattern, but they do not establish whether a particular transaction processed or whether a regional or nationwide service is affected.

Work out whether the problem is widespread or local

  • More consistent with a broad service problem: the app and website both fail on multiple supported devices, across Wi-Fi and cellular data, and independent reports rise at the same time or Chase posts a service notice.
  • More consistent with a network or regional problem: access fails on one connection but works after switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data.
  • More consistent with a device or app issue: the website works, or the app fails on one phone while working on another.
  • More consistent with a browser-session issue: the site works in a private window or another supported browser, but not in the usual browser.
  • More consistent with an authentication issue: the website loads, but sign-in stalls when it asks you to approve the session in the app.
  • More consistent with an account-specific issue: the error concerns credentials, identity verification, device registration or an account-security hold.

Try these safe checks first

  1. Compare the two official access routes. Open the Chase Mobile app, then type chase.com into your browser yourself. Avoid login links from unsolicited texts, emails, search ads or social posts.
  2. Switch networks. Try cellular data instead of Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi instead of cellular data. Temporarily turn off a VPN, private relay or corporate network filter if you use one.
  3. Check for a supported app, operating system and browser. Update the Chase app through the official Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install available phone updates. Chase’s system-requirements page lists browser versions and settings, including cookies; support details can change. Use a stable, officially released browser, enable cookies, and temporarily disable extensions or plug-ins that may interfere with the sign-in page. Avoid beta browsers and compatibility mode. See Chase’s browser and system requirements.
  4. Restart once and retry. Force-close the app, restart the phone, reopen the app and try again. Avoid repeated password attempts, which can create additional access problems.
  5. Test a clean browser session. Use a private or incognito window or a different supported browser. If that works, cookies, cache or an extension in the usual browser may be involved.
  6. Check whether the phone meets Chase’s stated trusted-device requirements. Chase gives iOS 16.0 or later and Android 11 or later as examples of supported operating systems for trusted-device enrollment, and notes requirements may change. See Chase’s trusted-device guidance.
  7. Use the other official route if available. If the app is failing, try the website; if the website is failing, try the app. If the site requires approval from an app that will not run, contact Chase rather than repeatedly retrying.

If your phone is no longer compatible with the Chase app

An app compatibility problem is different from a bank-wide outage. A phone may still run other apps while no longer meeting Chase’s security or software requirements. In that situation, the Chase website may load but still be difficult to use if sign-in approval is tied to the app on that phone.

Some August 2026 users reported an Android 13 requirement for their app experience, but Chase’s published trusted-device guidance located for this update says Android 11 or later as an example. Those reports do not establish a universal Android 13 cutoff. Check the current requirements in Chase’s own app listing and guidance before concluding that your model is unsupported.

If your phone cannot run a supported operating system, do not install an old app package (APK) or download Chase software from an unofficial site. Ask Chase whether another verification method, access through another trusted device, phone-assisted sign-in or a branch visit is available. You do not need to assume that buying a new phone is the only immediate option.

If the website asks you to approve sign-in in the app

This can create a verification loop: the website is available, but it will not complete sign-in without approval from an app that cannot open or is no longer supported. If you have another trusted device, it may provide an alternate route, although registering or using a new device can trigger additional identity checks.

When no available device can complete approval, contact Chase and ask about alternate verification. Never give a caller or social-media account your password or one-time security code. Do not keep submitting sign-in attempts if you cannot complete the required verification.

If a balance, payment or transfer looks wrong

A delayed or inconsistent display is not enough to determine whether money moved. User posts have described temporary balance-display concerns, but they are anecdotal rather than a confirmed Chase incident. Once access is stable, refresh or sign in again once and check recent transactions through another trusted Chase channel if possible.

  • Do not submit a second transfer or payment while the first one is pending or its status is unclear.
  • Contact Chase promptly if a transaction is missing, duplicated or unauthorized, or if a balance remains incorrect.
  • Do not assume a temporarily incorrect displayed balance means funds have disappeared; confirm the transaction status with Chase.

Cards, ATMs and branches during a digital-access problem

An app or website failure does not by itself mean a Chase debit or credit card will be declined. Card authorization, account login, transfers and ATM access are distinct services, and a broader processing incident could affect them differently. There is no verified current status here for card payments or ATM service.

If a merchant shows a pending or declined transaction without a clear result, avoid repeated attempts until you can confirm the status. For urgent cash or account questions, use the phone number on the back of your card or visit a Chase branch.

Contact Chase safely

Chase lists 1-800-935-9935 for U.S. online and mobile banking support on its customer-service page. Using the number printed on the back of your card is another reliable way to reach the bank. If you can sign in, Chase says you can send a secure message from the account menu; see its complaints and feedback information.

J.P. Morgan business platforms are separate

“Chase” commonly refers to U.S. consumer and business banking, credit cards and related digital services. J.P. Morgan Access, PaymentNet and other commercial platforms have distinct login systems and support arrangements. A problem with one platform does not prove all JPMorgan Chase services are down. J.P. Morgan Access’s FAQ suggests checking browser support, credentials, cache, bookmarks and connection, and contacting the regional help desk when login failures persist or an outage is suspected.
