On November 8, 2021, a report said China Unicom’s flagship store on JD.com was offering 600 yuan off the 256GB iPhone 13 Pro, with free shipping for JD PLUS members. The report described this as the model’s first discount and put the saving at about $94. It was a China-specific retailer promotion—not an Apple Store price reduction or a global price cut—and it is historical, not a current deal.
What the reported offer included
| Detail | Reported offer |
|---|---|
| Phone | iPhone 13 Pro, 256GB |
| Discount | 600 yuan; approximately $94 as stated in the November 8, 2021 report |
| Seller | China Unicom’s flagship store on JD.com |
| Shipping | Free |
| Eligibility | JD PLUS members |
| Market and timing | China; reported November 8, 2021, ahead of the 11.11 shopping festival |
The contemporaneous report does not give the original price or final checkout price, explain whether a coupon was needed, or state whether other discounts could be combined. Its dollar figure is an approximate conversion from yuan, not a current exchange-rate calculation or a saving available to U.S. shoppers.
Was it really the first price cut?
The report called the offer the iPhone 13 Pro 256GB’s “first-ever” price cut. The evidence available here supports the narrower description: it was the first reported discount. No historical price chart or independent record establishes that no retailer, coupon, payment offer, trade-in, or regional promotion had lowered the price earlier.
“Official” also needs care: the seller was described as China Unicom’s own flagship store on JD.com. That does not make the promotion an Apple Store offer or a permanent change to Apple’s pricing.

Who could use the promotion—and what remains uncertain?
The report said JD PLUS membership was required, so the advertised offer should not be treated as available to every JD.com shopper. It does not explain membership cost, whether new members qualified, how the discount appeared at checkout, whether purchase limits applied, or whether eligibility varied by account or delivery location.
- Geography: The offer was reported for China. The report does not establish international shipping or eligibility for buyers abroad.
- Stock and duration: No inventory quantity or promotion end date is stated.
- Device details: The report does not identify a specific SKU or color, or establish warranty coverage, SIM configuration, carrier lock status, or compatibility with foreign carriers.
- Final cost: Without the listed price, a buyer cannot determine the actual checkout total from the reported 600-yuan reduction alone.
Why the 256GB model mattered
Apple lists the iPhone 13 Pro in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. The 256GB tier doubles the base storage, which can be useful for people keeping 4K video, ProRAW photos, games, and large apps on the phone. Apple also notes that ProRes recording capability varies by storage tier, including a limitation on the 128GB model. That makes storage needs relevant, but the reported promotion provides no price comparison with the 128GB version and does not establish that 256GB was the best value.

For context, Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro specifications list a 6.1-inch OLED display with ProMotion adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, the A15 Bionic chip, and a triple 12MP rear-camera system. Apple’s published battery figure is up to 22 hours of video playback; actual battery life varies with use and settings.

A 600-yuan reduction on a newly released premium phone could be notable, but whether it was worthwhile depended on the buyer’s circumstances. A shopper needed to weigh the JD PLUS requirement, the value of 256GB storage, and the imminent 11.11 event against prices elsewhere. The report does not show competing prices or establish whether waiting would have produced a better promotion, so it cannot support a claim that this was the best deal.

This is a historical price report, not a live buying lead. Apple’s old iPhone 13 Pro shopping URL now redirects to its general iPhone page, while its former specifications URL remains a reference page rather than a current product listing. Buyers researching the model today should verify any retailer’s price, stock, seller identity, warranty, and regional compatibility directly; this 2021 offer does not confirm any of them.
