What the funding report says
TechCrunch reported that A91 Partners led the $30 million Series D, which valued Noida-based IntrCity SmartBus at $140 million post-money. The report drew in part on interviews with co-founders Manish Rathi and Kapil Raizada. No company funding announcement is established by the sources cited here, so the round and valuation should be understood as reported by TechCrunch, rather than independently confirmed here. The stated priorities were wider coverage in smaller cities and towns, a better passenger experience and safety, and fleet technology. These were plans described at the time of the raise, not evidence that each initiative has since been completed.
How IntrCity’s operating model works
TechCrunch described IntrCity as an asset-light, technology-enabled intercity bus platform that works with local bus owners rather than relying only on a company-owned fleet. According to the report, partner vehicles are equipped with company hardware for tracking and operations, while the platform centralizes bookings and route planning. Demand data informs decisions such as service frequency, boarding points, and seat layouts. Those operating details reflect company leadership’s description in the report, not an independent audit.

Its site lists routes, bus types, and booking channels, and says tickets are also available through eTravelSmart. The company describes passenger features including boarding lounges, live tracking, bus-host assistance, and onboard washrooms; these are company-stated offerings, not independently verified safety outcomes. What the reported scale and financial figures mean
The operational and financial metrics below are figures TechCrunch reported on October 29, 2025. They are dated snapshots, not current audited disclosures. The revenue amounts and profitability statements were attributed to company reporting or management; the cited sources do not independently verify them.

Why the company is targeting smaller cities
The funding report framed road travel as a way to serve intercity demand that rail does not fully absorb. It cited redBus for more than 223 million intercity journeys in India in fiscal 2025; that number was cited by TechCrunch, and the underlying redBus report was not separately reviewed here. TechCrunch also reported that India’s national highway network had grown by more than 60% in the preceding decade, from 56,723 miles to 90,847 miles, citing government data. These figures provide context for the opportunity, but they do not amount to a forecast of IntrCity’s growth or prove that expansion into smaller cities will be profitable.
