What was Interlace Medical?
Interlace Medical was a Newton, Massachusetts company developing gynecological devices. Its best-documented product was MyoSure, a system for removing tissue from inside the uterus during hysteroscopy.

What is known about the reported $5 million round?
An archival roundup from New Leaf Venture Partners lists a May 21, 2007 VentureWire report that Interlace Medical raised $5 million in its first funding round. It names Spray Ventures and New Leaf Venture Partners as the lead investors. The original VentureWire item was not independently located, so the amount and investor names are best treated as a secondary report rather than a verified financing announcement. What did MyoSure do?
FDA documentation describes MyoSure as an intrauterine tissue-removal system intended for hysteroscopic use by a trained gynecologist, including removal of submucous myomas and endometrial polyps. The described system is single-use and used with a hysteroscope and a fluid-management system. It is a professional medical device, not a consumer product. FDA MyoSure documentation
When and for how much did Hologic acquire Interlace?
Hologic announced the acquisition on January 7, 2011, and its SEC filing says the deal was completed on January 6. The public figures differ because they describe separate accounting contexts:

In its 2011 acquisition announcement, Hologic said approximately 5 million U.S. women had symptomatic fibroids or polyps that could be treated with the MyoSure procedure. That is Hologic’s company statement, not an independent prevalence estimate. The release also attributed close to 96 percent symptom resolution and less than 10 percent recurrence at five years to clinical studies of hysteroscopic fibroid removal.
