Intel did not bring Falcon Shores to market. Although the company originally targeted the AI and high-performance-computing (HPC) accelerator for introduction in 2025, it later said it would use the chip internally for testing instead. Intel’s filings identify Jaguar Shores as its subsequent AI-accelerator development focus, but do not establish a firm release date.
What Intel originally planned for Falcon Shores
In a 2023 announcement, Intel described Falcon Shores as a flexible, chiplet-based GPU architecture intended to serve HPC and AI computing. The company said the design could incorporate new Intel and customer intellectual property, including CPU cores and chiplets, over time. Intel’s wording was that Falcon Shores was “targeted for introduction in 2025”—a roadmap target, not confirmation that a finished product would ship or be available to customers. Intel’s original announcement described design intent, not final product specifications.
Why Falcon Shores did not become a commercial product
Intel’s fiscal 2024 Form 10-K explains that customer feedback changed the plan. The company said it would “utilize it as an internal test chip rather than bring it to market.” In other words, Falcon Shores remained part of Intel’s development work, but Intel did not plan to sell it as a customer-facing accelerator. Intel’s fiscal 2024 filing also situates Falcon Shores in the company’s accelerator development following Gaudi 3.
That change means the original 2025 target should not be read as a product launch, customer availability date, or promise that a retail or data-center SKU would follow. The official sources cited here do not establish a final Falcon Shores performance level, specifications, or customer availability.

What Intel says it is developing instead
Intel’s fiscal 2024 filing identified Jaguar Shores as its focus for a next-generation AI accelerator. Its fiscal 2025 Form 10-K says Intel continued developing Jaguar Shores as a next-generation GPU architecture. Those statements confirm a development direction, not a firm shipping schedule: the reviewed filings do not give a confirmed release date. Intel’s fiscal 2025 filing provides the later development update.

In October 2025, Intel separately announced Crescent Island, a data-center GPU designed for AI inference workloads. That is a distinct portfolio announcement; it does not mean Falcon Shores reached the market or establish when Jaguar Shores will be available. Intel’s Crescent Island announcement describes the separate inference-focused GPU.
