Creators turn attention into income through platform payouts, sponsorships, businesses they own, and deals in entertainment and other media. Forbes estimated that its 50 Top Creators earned $1.02 billion collectively in 2026, but the available reporting does not establish a comparable earnings figure for 15 individual people. This guide explains how creator wealth is built, highlights what the published examples actually show, and separates evidence from assumptions.
What “made millions off social media” can mean
The phrase can describe several different financial outcomes: a creator earning millions in a year, owning a business valued in the millions, or building a media career that began online. Those are not interchangeable. Annual gross earnings are not net worth, lifetime earnings, or take-home pay after taxes, production costs, employees, and other expenses.
A list of 15 people may be a useful editorial selection, but it should not imply that every person has a verified, comparable earnings total. The current figures cited here are estimates for creator lists as a whole, not audited statements for each creator.
How social media fame becomes income
Platform-related income
Creators may earn money through platform programs, advertising revenue shares, subscriptions, or other platform features. These streams depend on the platform, audience, content format, eligibility rules, and changing program terms. A large following alone does not establish how much a creator receives.

Brand partnerships
Companies pay creators to promote products or services, with compensation shaped by audience size, reach, engagement, campaign scope, and exclusivity. Forbes identifies brand deals as part of Khaby Lame’s business activity, showing how a recognizable, repeatable format can support commercial partnerships. That example does not establish a specific payment or annual total for Lame. Forbes Australia’s report on the 2025 Top Creators
Creator-owned products and businesses
Ownership can create a different kind of financial upside from sponsored posts: a creator may build or invest in a product line or company. MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) illustrates this path. Forbes describes his portfolio as including Feastables, MrBeast Burger, and media ventures. A creator’s association with a business does not, by itself, reveal the creator’s ownership share, profit, or personal income.
Entertainment and other media
Social reach can also help creators move into shows, streaming projects, or other media. Forbes reported that MrBeast’s Beast Games had been renewed for two seasons on Amazon Prime. Such projects broaden a creator’s business beyond social platforms, but a production deal or renewal should not be confused with a disclosed personal earnings figure. What the latest Forbes totals tell us—and what they do not
| List | Reported collective earnings | Period and context |
|---|---|---|
| Forbes Top Creators 2025 | $853 million, estimated | Estimated gross earnings from April 2024 through April 2025 for 50 creators; Forbes reported an 18% rise from 2024. |
| Forbes Top Creators 2026 | $1.02 billion, collectively | Forbes reported that the 50 creators passed the billion-dollar mark, a 20% rise from the prior year. |
These are list-level estimates, not audited financial statements for every creator. The 2025 figure has a stated measurement period; the cited 2026 announcement establishes the aggregate and year-over-year change but does not provide a period in the material cited here. Neither figure can be divided into a reliable per-person income or used to claim that any particular creator personally earned millions. Creators named in recent Forbes lists
MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson)
MrBeast shows how an enormous online audience can support more than platform content: Forbes points to Feastables, MrBeast Burger, media, and Beast Games. The cited reporting supports those business and entertainment examples, not a complete account of his ownership, profits, or personal net worth.
Khaby Lame
Forbes Australia describes brand deals as part of Lame’s commercial activity. His example underscores that sponsorships can monetize a distinctive, easy-to-recognize social format; the cited source does not give a person-specific earnings total here.
Charli D’Amelio, Alix Earle, and Dhar Mann
Forbes named Charli D’Amelio, Alix Earle, and Dhar Mann among its 2026 Top Creators. That establishes their inclusion in the list, but the announcement cited here does not provide enough person-specific detail to support earnings claims or fuller financial profiles for them. Why a responsible “15 people” list needs individual evidence
For a useful comparison, each person’s entry needs a reliable source for the claim that they made millions, the same defined earnings period, and a clear label distinguishing estimates from disclosed figures. It should also identify whether the money came from platform income, sponsorships, a business, or media work when that information is available. Without those details, a roster of 15 names risks presenting fame as proof of wealth or mixing annual income with business value and net worth.
Recommended Free Tools
The available reporting supports the broader conclusion that creator businesses have become substantial: Forbes’ 2025 and 2026 lists show rising aggregate estimates, while its examples show how partnerships, owned products, and entertainment can complement social reach. It does not substantiate 15 comparable individual earnings profiles. For readers assessing a creator’s financial success, the key question is not simply how many followers they have, but which revenue streams are documented and what the reported number actually measures.
