Insight Partners’ “new $20B fund” was Fund XII, a 2022 fundraising close—not a new 2026 announcement. The firm said Fund XII and a dedicated co-investment fund drew more than $20 billion in commitments, bringing its reported regulatory assets under management (RAUM) above $90 billion. Those figures describe different things: commitments to named funds and a firm-level regulatory AUM measure.
What was Insight Partners’ $20B fund?
Fund XII was Insight Partners’ twelfth flagship fund. In an announcement dated February 24, 2022, the firm said Fund XII and its dedicated co-investment fund had received total commitments in excess of $20 billion. The release described the strategy as investing globally in high-growth technology, software, and internet companies. Insight Partners’ 2022 announcement
The $20 billion-plus figure is the combined commitment amount for the two vehicles named in that announcement, not a statement that Fund XII alone held that amount in assets or had already invested it. The firm’s release does not provide a fund-by-fund breakdown or a schedule of how quickly the committed capital would be deployed.
How does that relate to $90 billion in assets under management?
Insight said the Fund XII close brought its regulatory assets under management above $90 billion. Its current About page reports over $90 billion in regulatory AUM as of December 31, 2025. These are firm-reported figures; the cited pages do not explain the RAUM calculation or reconcile it with fund commitments. Insight Partners’ About Us page

Commitments and RAUM should not be treated as interchangeable. The first figure refers to capital committed to the specific Fund XII and co-invest vehicles; RAUM is the firm’s regulatory AUM measure. The available disclosures do not establish a direct calculation linking the two, so the $20 billion-plus should not be added to or subtracted from the $90 billion figure.
How does the 2022 close compare with Insight’s later fundraising?
On January 16, 2025, Insight announced a separate combined $12.5 billion close covering Fund XIII, a dedicated buyout co-invest fund, and Opportunities Fund II. It is a different fundraising event with different named vehicles, not a revised figure for Fund XII. The available announcements do not establish that the totals were raised on identical terms or represent equivalent categories of capital. Insight Partners’ 2025 announcement

What does Insight invest in, and what does the scale figure tell you?
Insight describes itself as a global investor in software, technology, and internet businesses, from early institutional investment through later growth stages. The firm says its flagship funds typically invest from $5 million to $500 million or more per company; that range is a description of its investment approach, not a promise of returns or a typical check size for every portfolio company. 2022 Fund XII release
Insight also describes Insight Onsite as an operating-support group. The 2022 release said it had more than 100 software experts at the time and cited recruiting support, networks, and function-specific centers of excellence. The firm’s 2025 year-in-review described Insight Onsite as a group of 130-plus professionals. Rank #3
In that year-end review, Insight reported more than 875 investments and over 55 portfolio-company IPOs by the end of 2025. It also reported more than 550 active portfolio companies, 64 new investments, and more than 25 exits during 2025; the review notes that figures are as of December 15, 2025 unless otherwise noted.
