Reports put the mansion at 25,500 square feet and located it in Los Altos Hills, California. They disagree on the acreage: the Associated Press reported 18 acres, while later coverage of the county assessment described 17 acres. Architect William Hablinski said design plans began in 2001 and the house was completed around 2009. He worked on the project with his then-partner Richard Manion. The Associated Press reported that Milner bought the property in 2011 for $100 million. Why did the county later value it at $50.27 million?
In 2012, Santa Clara County’s assessor’s office set a fair-market valuation of $50.27 million—distinct from the reported $100 million transaction price. The assessment was a dated public valuation, not a new sale price or a current appraisal. Inman quoted deputy assessor David Ginsborg explaining that the property had never been listed publicly, creating challenges in estimating what open-market buyers might pay.
