Xiaomi’s SU7 factory was publicly shown shortly before the company launched its first electric car in Beijing on March 28, 2024. The reveal highlighted automation and the company’s manufacturing claims, but it did not establish the plant’s total capacity or show every production operation.
What the factory reveal showed—and when
The factory entered public view on March 19, 2024, when CnEVPost reported on Xiaomi founder Lei Jun’s account of a board visit and test drive. Xiaomi held the SU7’s official launch in Beijing on March 28. On April 25, Xiaomi published its own factory video, presenting the site and its manufacturing approach.
The sequence matters: the factory coverage was part of the run-up to Xiaomi’s first car launch, not a recent tour or a current operating update. The video is Xiaomi’s own presentation of the factory, rather than an independent audit of the plant.
How much automation did Xiaomi claim?
In its 2024 interim-results disclosure, Xiaomi described 100% automation of key processes using self-developed equipment. That wording is narrower than saying the entire factory is fully automated: the claim applies to key processes, not necessarily every operation across the plant.

What Xiaomi reported about the factory environment
In launch communication published through Xiaomi Community in 2024, Xiaomi said the factory’s solar roof generated 16.4 million kWh of clean energy annually and reported 99% exhaust-gas-treatment efficiency. These are manufacturer-reported figures; the available sources do not provide independent measurements confirming them.

How production ramped after launch
Xiaomi’s interim-results disclosure said double-shift operations began in June 2024 as the company ramped production. The filing reported 27,307 vehicle deliveries in Q2 2024, described as the first full delivery quarter after launch. Deliveries are not the same as production capacity, and these dated figures should not be read as a current output rate.
In its 2024 annual-results disclosure, published in 2025, Xiaomi reported 136,854 SU7 deliveries during calendar year 2024. The same disclosure gave a 2025 delivery target of 350,000 vehicles; that was a forecast, not a 2025 result, and it does not establish factory capacity.
