Inside Oprah Winfrey’s Real Estate Portfolio: What She Owns and What She Has Sold

Oprah Winfrey sold a four-acre Montecito ranch parcel in 2025 but reportedly retained more than 60 acres at Promised Land. Here’s what is known—and what remains an estimate.

Oprah Winfrey’s latest reported real-estate transaction was the 2025 sale of a four-acre ranch parcel in Montecito for $17.2 million. It was part of her larger Promised Land estate—not the whole property—and Architectural Digest reported that she retained more than 60 acres there. The same report says she also owns property in Colorado and Hawaii, though public reporting does not provide a complete, current inventory of her parcels.

What Oprah Winfrey reportedly owns now

The clearest recent overview comes from Architectural Digest’s December 11, 2025 report. It says Winfrey kept the remainder of her Montecito Promised Land estate after selling a four-acre parcel, and that the remaining estate spans more than 60 acres. The report also identifies property in Colorado and Hawaii, but does not specify addresses, acreage, or a parcel-by-parcel breakdown for those states.

That is a reported outline, not a verified title search or an exhaustive list of everything held directly or through entities. Published summaries can mix homes, farmland, undeveloped land, past ownership, and estimates, so acreage totals should not be treated as a definitive current count.

The 2025 Montecito sale

Architectural Digest reported that Winfrey sold a four-acre Spanish Revival-style ranch in Montecito, California, for $17.2 million in 2025. The article’s headline gives $17.1 million, while its text reports $17.2 million; the figure in the article body is used here. The sale price was reported, not an official valuation of her wider portfolio.

Winfrey had bought the ranch from actor Jeff Bridges in 2019 for $6.85 million, according to the same report. The property was one parcel within Promised Land, so its sale did not mean she sold the entire Montecito compound.

What was on the ranch parcel

The report describes a roughly 3,500-square-foot, two-bedroom, four-bathroom house built in 1919 by architect James Osborn Craig. Listed amenities included a swimming pool and spa, guesthouse, poolhouse, carriage house, and equestrian stables. These details describe the sold parcel, not the remaining Promised Land estate.

How to read the reported acreage and value figures

One secondary portfolio summary, Celebrity Net Worth, estimates that Winfrey’s Maui holdings total roughly 2,100 acres, including Upcountry farmland and land near Hāna. That estimate should not be read as a government-verified current aggregate, and it does not establish that all the land is residential. The source also gives an estimate of at least $200 million for combined U.S. real estate, but the material available does not establish an official, comprehensive current valuation.

These numbers answer different questions: acreage is not market value, a sale price applies to one transaction, and an estimate of combined property value is not a public appraisal or title audit. The strongest recent transaction reporting is specific to the Montecito parcel; broader totals remain secondary-source estimates.

Former properties: Chicago and Orcas Island

Celebrity Net Worth’s historical summary says Winfrey sold her final Chicago-area property in 2018 and her Orcas Island, Washington, estate in 2021. Those locations belong in a history of her holdings, not an unqualified list of places she currently owns. The summary is a secondary source rather than a current parcel-by-parcel ownership record.

Why public estimates may not match a complete ownership record

A person’s real-estate footprint can change through sales, purchases, transfers, and ownership through companies or other entities. A portfolio article may report a notable home or a large land estimate without identifying every parcel or the legal owner on its current deed. None of the cited portfolio reporting provides a comprehensive current list of Winfrey’s parcels or holding entities.

For Hawaii records, the state Bureau of Conveyances says recorded documents from 1976 onward can be searched through its online document-access system using a grantor/grantee name or document number; copies are available for a fee. Its separate Property Watch alerts are not guaranteed: the Bureau warns that name and data-entry issues can generate false positives or cause records to be missed. See the Bureau’s document search information and its Property Watch notice. Such tools can help locate recorded documents, but they are not a ready-made celebrity portfolio inventory.
