Axioma is a 72-metre superyacht that sold at auction for $37.5 million in 2022. The often-repeated $75 million figure was a pre-auction estimate, not the price paid by the buyer. Despite the celebrity framing, available reporting does not substantiate that a Kardashian owned or chartered the yacht.
What is Axioma?
Axioma is a custom superyacht built by Dunya Yachts in 2013. The vessel listing gives its length as 72 metres (236 feet), and says it was originally named Red Square before becoming Axioma. The listing identifies Alberto Pinto as interior designer and Sterling Scott as exterior designer. Axioma’s vessel listing describes a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and 1,620 gross tonnage.
According to that listing, the yacht has six guest cabins for up to 12 guests, cruises at 13 knots and can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots. Its stated range is 5,000 nautical miles. These are listing specifications, not independently audited measurements; yacht specifications can vary by measurement convention.
Did the Kardashians own or charter Axioma?
No reliable evidence identified in the reporting establishes that a member of the Kardashian family owned or chartered Axioma. The celebrity association in the headline should therefore be treated as unverified, not as a fact about the yacht.

Was Axioma really worth $75 million?
News coverage before the auction described Axioma as estimated at about $75 million. ABC News reported that the official appraised value was confidential, so $75 million was an outside estimate rather than a publicly disclosed official appraisal. It was also not the auction transaction price. ABC News’ 2022 auction report covers the estimate and the confidential appraisal.
How much did Axioma sell for?
The successful bidder paid $37.5 million into court, The Guardian reported on September 27, 2022. That completed sale price was half the widely reported $75 million pre-auction estimate, but the two figures refer to different things: an estimate before sale and the amount paid at auction. Gibraltar’s Admiralty Marshal said: “The Admiralty Marshal has today sold the MY Axioma following payment into court of $37.5m by the successful bidder,” as quoted by The Guardian. The report said the auction received 63 bids and that the buyer’s identity would not be disclosed.

Why was Axioma seized and auctioned?
The Guardian reported that Axioma was owned by Dmitry Pumpyansky and was impounded in Gibraltar in March 2022 after JP Morgan pursued a claim connected with a €20.5 million loan to Pyrene Investments, the yacht’s registered owner. According to the report, sanctions against Pumpyansky meant the bank could not accept repayments, and the court-supervised sale was pursued in connection with the debt. The buyer remained anonymous. The reporting does not establish that the sale proceeds went to Ukraine.

A 2022 report listed the yacht for charter at $558,500 per week before its sale. That is a historical listing price, not a current rate or confirmation that the yacht is available now. It also does not show that any named celebrity chartered Axioma.
