No—the headline does not describe an application window open today. It refers to the Indian Army’s 53rd Technical Entry Scheme (TES 53), for a course scheduled to begin in July 2025. Scroll reported on 7 November 2024 that applications were due to close that day. That deadline has passed; the report is historical, not an instruction to apply now. What the TES 53 deadline was
Scroll’s 7 November 2024 report said the application window for TES 53, a Permanent Commission entry for the July 2025 course, closed on 7 November 2024. As of 8 October 2026, that reported deadline is long past. The sources available do not establish that a later TES application window is open.
Do not confuse the course’s July 2025 start date with its application deadline: these were separate dates. The headline’s word “today” referred to the day Scroll published it, not to today.
What the 2024 report said about TES 53 eligibility
The following were historical, course-specific criteria reported for TES 53. They are not current general eligibility rules for Army recruitment, and the figures have not been independently checked against the primary TES 53 notification.

How selection was reported to work
Meeting the stated academic and age criteria did not guarantee selection. Scroll reported that applications would be shortlisted for a Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, followed by medical fitness and physical fitness assessments. A secondary summary describes the broader sequence as application, shortlisting, SSB, medical examination, merit list and joining letter; it also states that the Army notification is the governing advertisement. Why other Army recruitment dates do not reopen TES 53
Separate Press Information Bureau notices covered other Army recruitment activity for recruiting year 2025–26. One gave 30 June to 10 July 2025 for an Online Common Entrance Exam for certain categories; another reported application dates of 12 March to 10 April 2025 for a different set of recruitment categories.
