Which SSC Tech recruitment did the August 14 deadline refer to?
Scroll’s August 14, 2024 report covered the April 2025 intake: SSC (Tech)-64 Men and SSCW (Tech)-35 Women. It reported that applications closed on August 14, 2024. The figure of 381 vacancies—350 for men, 29 for women, and two for widows of defence personnel—was attached to this recruitment, not a present-day vacancy announcement.

Why do some reports also mention 381 vacancies?
A separate recruitment cycle also reported 381 vacancies, but it was for the October 2025 intake: SSC (Tech)-65 Men and SSCW (Tech)-36 Women. Scroll’s February 5, 2025 report gave its deadline as February 5, 2025, at 3 p.m. The matching total does not make the two cycles interchangeable.

The October intake’s notification concerns its own courses. Neither of these 2025 cycles establishes that applications are open now.
What did the 2024 application route involve?
For the April 2025 courses, the historical instructions directed applicants to joinindianarmy.nic.in, then to “Officer Entry Apply/Login,” registration, “Apply Online,” and the relevant Short Service Commission Technical course listing. Applicants were advised to submit the form and retain a printout. These were steps for the 2024 application cycle; following them now does not mean the old application is available.
What eligibility conditions did the April 2025 notice describe?
Scroll’s report stated an age range of 20–27 years as of April 1, 2025, and said engineering graduates and final-year engineering candidates could apply. That summary is not blanket eligibility for every engineering discipline or every student in a final year.
The course notification limits eligibility to specified engineering streams and accepted equivalents. It also sets deadlines and conditions for final-year candidates to provide proof of passing and marksheets, and warns that a mismatch between the applicant’s stream and the listed stream can lead to cancellation. Applicants need the full notice—not only the news summary—to check their stream and document requirements.

The course was scheduled to begin in April 2025 and included 49 weeks of training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, according to Scroll’s report. The notification says training is at government expense, describes commission on probation in the rank of Lieutenant, and sets out pay and allowances during training. Those terms apply to the specified courses and should be read in the notification.
