When was the GDS July 2024 edit window?
The Department of Posts’ July 2024 notification said the correction period would last three days after the application closing date. Scroll reported on 6 August 2024 that the window was open and that the last date to make changes was 8 August 2024. The July 2024 application period had been reported as 15 July to 5 August 2024. These dates apply only to that recruitment schedule.

Scroll reported that the drive had 44,228 vacancies. That count is attributable to Scroll’s 6 August 2024 report, not an independently verified vacancy breakdown from the Department of Posts.
Who could edit a submitted application?
India Post’s GDS FAQ says the edit option is available only to candidates who successfully submitted an application, only during the correction period named in the notification, and only once. Applicants were advised to review all information carefully before final submission. The July 2024 notification copy states: “The candidates are advised to carefully fill their registration and application forms, and review the same before final submission.”
How applicants edited the GDS form in August 2024

- Open the India Post GDS portal.
- Select “Apply Online—Edit Application.”
- Sign in with the required login details.
- Make the permitted corrections and submit the changes.
- Keep a printout of the edited application for your records.

Use the official GDS portal and the latest notice published there for current recruitment dates, correction instructions and application-status information. The Department of Posts’ current GDS page showed a July 2026 schedule when checked on 8 October 2026. A later schedule may use different dates or rules; do not carry forward the July 2024 deadline or assume its correction window is still available.
