On May 1, 2024, GamesBeat reported that Web3 entertainment company Imaginary Ones had announced an oversubscribed investment round and said its mobile game Bubble Rangers had passed two million downloads. The funding amount and other financial terms were not disclosed. The download figure was reported by the company and is not an independently audited install count.
How much funding did Imaginary Ones raise?
The amount was not disclosed in GamesBeat’s May 1, 2024 report. The report described the round as oversubscribed but did not give a valuation, the amount raised, or other terms. There is therefore no supported figure for how much capital Imaginary Ones secured.
Who invested in Imaginary Ones?
GamesBeat named Cypher Capital as the lead investor and Animoca Brands, Polygon Ventures, ED3N Ventures, and MH Ventures among the participants. The company’s current website lists Cypher Capital, Animoca Brands, P2 Ventures (formerly Polygon Ventures), ED3N Ventures, and MH Ventures among its investors or partners; that current roster is not a complete record of the 2024 round’s terms. What is Bubble Rangers?
Bubble Rangers is a mobile game. GamesBeat described it alongside Bubble Riders as a Web3 endless runner and mentioned in-game NFTs such as skins. The reported download milestone concerns the game, not a physical product.
How the funding relates to Animoca Brands’ partnership
Animoca Brands announced a strategic partnership with Imaginary Ones on April 8, 2024, saying it followed an investment earlier that year. The company described support for token economics, an airdrop campaign, and go-to-market strategy. That partnership announcement is distinct from the May 1 report on the oversubscribed round; the two announcements should not be treated as one event. Animoca Brands’ partnership announcement
