For U.S. applicants, the right IHG One Rewards card depends on whether your stays and ordinary spending can make use of its annual night certificate, elite status, and earning categories. IHG’s U.S. card page listed four options when checked October 3, 2026: three personal cards and one business card. The no-annual-fee card is the lowest-cost entry; Premier and Premier Select trade higher annual fees for different status and night benefits; Business adds business-oriented earning categories. Compare current terms before applying because offers and benefits can change.
Compare the four current U.S. IHG cards
The figures below are the offers and benefit descriptions displayed on IHG’s U.S. card page on October 3, 2026. Welcome offers require the stated purchases within the first three months; they are conditional and may change. “Up to” hotel points combine card earnings with IHG membership and tier earnings, rather than representing only points from the card. IHG’s card comparison has the linked product details.
| Card | Annual fee | Welcome offer shown | IHG stay headline | Status and night benefits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IHG One Rewards Premier | $150 | 180,000 points after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months | Up to 24X total points | Gold Elite; 15 Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year; anniversary night capped at 50,000 points, with points add-on; fourth night free on a qualifying consecutive four-night points stay |
| IHG One Rewards Premier Select | $350 | 200,000 points after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months | Up to 28X total points | Platinum Elite; 20 Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year; anniversary night capped at 60,000 points, with points add-on; fourth night free on a qualifying consecutive four-night points stay |
| IHG One Rewards, no annual fee | $0 | 125,000 points after $2,000 in purchases in the first 3 months | Up to 17X total points | Silver Elite; 5 Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year. Fourth-night-free benefit starts in 2027 after $5,000 annual card spend; Gold status benefit starts in 2027 after $15,000 annual spend |
| IHG One Rewards Business | $200 | 190,000 points after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months | Up to 26X total points | Platinum Elite; 15 Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year; anniversary night capped at 50,000 points, with points add-on |
Certificate redemption remains subject to availability and its terms. The 2027 spend-triggered benefits on the no-fee card should not be treated as available before then.
Match the card to your stays and spending
Choose the no-fee card if you want to avoid an annual fee
The no-annual-fee IHG One Rewards card currently includes Silver Elite status and five Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year. Its fourth-night-free benefit after $5,000 in annual card spend and Gold status after $15,000 in annual spend are listed as starting in 2027. Consider it if you prefer no recurring fee and will use IHG stays enough to earn points; do not count the future benefits as current ones.

Choose Premier for a lower-fee personal card with Gold status
Premier’s $150 annual fee buys automatic Gold Elite status, 15 annual Elite Night Credits, a 50,000-point-capped anniversary night, and fourth-night-free on qualifying consecutive four-night points stays. It may suit a regular IHG guest who can redeem the certificate and values the status benefits, but the card’s benefit list alone cannot establish that it offsets the fee for you.
Choose Premier Select only if you can use its higher caps and status
At $350 a year, Premier Select is the higher-fee personal option. Compared with Premier, it lists Platinum rather than Gold status, five more Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year, a certificate cap of 60,000 rather than 50,000 points, and different everyday bonus categories. The higher certificate ceiling matters only if a suitable eligible night costs more than Premier’s cap and is available; IHG says cardholders can add their own points above the cap.

Consider Business if its categories fit eligible business spending
The $200 Business card offers Platinum status, 15 Elite Night Credits at the start of each calendar year, and a 50,000-point-capped anniversary night. Its listed bonus categories include social-media and search-engine advertising, alongside travel, dining, and gas. It is relevant only if you are eligible for the business product and its categories correspond to spending you already expect to make.
Compare everyday earning categories—not just hotel multipliers
IHG’s card page lists these everyday purchase rates. Bonus-category definitions and exclusions are governed by the applicable card terms.

Rank #3
| Card | Listed everyday bonus categories | Other purchases |
|---|---|---|
| Premier | 5X on direct airline flights, car rentals, dining, grocery stores, and gas | 3X |
| Premier Select | 6X on dining and other travel, including rideshare | 3X |
| No annual fee | 3X on dining, groceries, and gas | 2X |
| Business | 5X on flights booked direct with airlines, rental cars, dining, gas, social-media advertising, and search-engine advertising | 3X |
Premier may better match someone whose regular budget includes groceries, direct flights, rental cars, and gas. Premier Select has a higher dining and other-travel rate, while Business includes specified advertising spend. The no-fee card has lower listed rates but no annual fee. Choose based on actual eligible spend rather than moving purchases or spending extra to reach a category or threshold.
Understand what “up to” IHG points means
IHG advertises maximum stay totals of 24X for Premier, 28X for Premier Select, 17X for the no-fee card, and 26X for Business. These are not flat card returns on every purchase or stay. IHG says totals combine card points, up to 10X from IHG membership, and the applicable tier earnings. For example, Premier’s 24X headline comprises 10X with the card, up to 10X from membership, and up to 4X from Gold status. Actual eligible stay earnings depend on the applicable terms and the member’s status.
Rank #4
Separate from hotel stays, card purchases earn at the categories and rates above. Do not compare a combined hotel-stay multiplier with an everyday purchase rate as if they measured the same transaction.

IHG’s current tier table describes benefits as follows: Silver includes a 20% bonus on base points and points that do not expire; Gold includes a 40% bonus and rollover nights; Platinum includes a 60% bonus, complimentary upgrades subject to availability, and a welcome amenity; Diamond includes a 100% bonus and a choice of breakfast or a points/drink-and-snack welcome amenity. See IHG’s tier benefits and membership terms for qualifications, property participation, and regional rules.

- Helpful in various ways
Each card’s listed Elite Night Credits arrive at the start of each calendar year. They can contribute toward status, but an automatic status benefit and elite-night credits are distinct features. IHG’s card page also lists spending routes to higher status: Premier advertises Platinum at $15,000 and Diamond at $40,000 in annual spend; Premier Select lists Diamond at $25,000; Business lists Diamond at $50,000 starting January 1, 2027. Treat these as thresholds in IHG’s displayed terms, not a reason to create purchases you would not otherwise make.
Estimate whether you can use the anniversary night and points
Premier’s and Business’s anniversary-night certificates are capped at 50,000 points; Premier Select’s cap is 60,000. IHG says cardholders can add their own points to redeem above the cap. Certificate terms, eligible properties, and availability determine whether a particular stay works. A larger cap is useful only when it opens an award you actually want and can book.
IHG says Reward Nights are available at 7,000+ destinations worldwide, starting at 10,000 points. Rates and availability vary; that starting figure is not a promise that a particular hotel night will cost 10,000 points. With Points + Cash, members use their current points and purchase the remaining points needed for a Reward Night. IHG does not establish one universal cash value for a point. See IHG’s points redemption options for current details.
Quick Recap
A practical way to make the choice
- Count likely IHG stays. Estimate which nights you would book with cash and which qualifying consecutive four-night points stays could use the fourth-night-free benefit, where available.
- Check the certificate against real hotels. Look for eligible dates and award rates you might actually redeem under the certificate cap; do not assign it a fixed cash value based solely on its maximum.
- Compare status you will use. Consider the relevant tier benefits and the number of Elite Night Credits, rather than assuming a higher tier has the same value for every traveler.
- Map ordinary spending to eligible categories. Compare the card’s listed rates with your existing purchases, and exclude any spending you would add only to earn a threshold.
- Weigh recurring cost and current offer terms. Compare the annual fee with benefits you expect to redeem, and confirm the welcome offer, spending deadline, and product terms on the application page before applying.
