I would not describe it as a clearly established, top-tier-regulated broker, and I would not deposit money based only on its website, social-media promotions or claims of international regulation.
That is not the same as proving that iGOFX is a scam. A broker can be a real operating business and still offer weak customer protection, use offshore entities or create serious problems when customers try to withdraw funds. The key issue is whether the company accepting your money is authorised in your country and whether its published legal documents match the entity shown in the regulator’s database.
What is iGOFX?
iGOFX is a retail forex and CFD brand associated with online leveraged trading. Like other brokers in this category, it may offer currency pairs and potentially contracts for difference on indices, commodities, metals or cryptocurrencies through a MetaTrader-style trading account.
The brand name alone does not establish who holds client funds. Before opening an account, identify all three of these details:
#1 Best Overall
- the company’s complete legal name;
- its company or licence number; and
- the regulator and jurisdiction responsible for the account you are opening.
Do not rely on a logo, a regulator badge or a statement such as “internationally regulated.” A genuine licence should be searchable on the regulator’s own website, and the legal name on that record should match the contracting entity in the broker’s customer agreement.
Is iGOFX regulated?
The important distinction is between a broker claiming regulation and a regulator confirming it. I cannot establish from the information available for this review that iGOFX holds current authorisation from a major retail regulator such as the FCA in the United Kingdom, ASIC in Australia, CySEC in Cyprus, the CFTC/NFA in the United States or the MAS in Singapore.
That matters because a licence from a lightly supervised offshore jurisdiction is not equivalent to authorisation from one of those regulators. The differences can include:
- lower capital and reporting requirements;
- less robust supervision of marketing and conflicts of interest;
- no comparable investor-compensation scheme;
- weaker routes for resolving a complaint; and
- greater difficulty enforcing a judgment against the company.
Check the regulator yourself before depositing. For a UK firm, use the FCA’s Financial Services Register. For Australia, use ASIC’s Professional Registers. For the United States, search the NFA’s BASIC database and the CFTC’s registration information. Search the legal entity, not merely “iGOFX.”

Why the legal entity matters
Forex brands sometimes operate several websites through different companies. One entity may serve clients in one country while another handles customers elsewhere. The protection available to a customer depends on the entity named in the account agreement, not on the strongest licence mentioned anywhere on the brand’s website.
Before sending funds, download or save:
- the client agreement;
- the risk disclosure;
- the withdrawal and fee schedule;
- the privacy policy; and
- the legal-entity and licence information page.
Look for contradictions. A warning sign is a website that advertises one jurisdiction but provides payment instructions for a different company, uses a personal bank account, or changes the beneficiary name during the onboarding process.
Trading conditions and leverage
High leverage can make a broker appear attractive while making the account much easier to lose. A 1% move against a fully leveraged position can consume a large part of the trader’s usable margin; spreads, commissions, swaps and slippage then increase the loss.
Do not judge iGOFX by a headline spread or maximum leverage. Ask for the complete cost for the specific instrument you intend to trade:

| Cost or condition | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Spread | Typical spread, not only the “from” spread; check it during volatile markets. |
| Commission | Whether commission is charged per side or round turn. |
| Swap | Overnight financing and any triple-swap day. |
| Execution | Whether the broker may reject, requote or fill orders with slippage. |
| Margin rules | Stop-out level, margin-call level and liquidation procedure. |
| Negative balance | Whether losses are contractually limited to the deposited amount. |
A demo account cannot prove that live withdrawals will work. It only shows that the platform can display prices and accept simulated trades.
Deposits and withdrawals: the most important test
Read the withdrawal clause before funding the account. A normal broker may require identity checks, source-of-funds evidence and repayment to the original funding method. Those controls are not, by themselves, evidence of fraud.
By contrast, stop and investigate if anyone says you must first:
- deposit more money to unlock an existing balance;
- pay an advance tax or “profit fee” to withdraw;
- reach a VIP, premium or turnover level;
- pay a security deposit or insurance charge;
- send money to a personal wallet or unrelated company; or
- install remote-access software so an agent can “process” the withdrawal.
These are classic advance-fee warning signs. A broker normally deducts legitimate trading charges from the account or clearly discloses them before trading. It should not require a new payment merely to release money that is already shown as available.

- Find the contracting company. Open the customer agreement and copy the exact legal name and registration number.
- Search the regulator’s database. Use the regulator’s own domain, type the legal name manually and check that the website, phone number and permitted activities match.
- Check the warning list. Search your national regulator for warnings about the brand, company, website and telephone numbers.
- Confirm the payment beneficiary. It should be consistent with the disclosed company. Do not pay a salesperson’s personal account or a changing series of crypto wallets.
- Test a small withdrawal early. Do this before increasing the balance or accepting a bonus. Read the bonus terms first because bonuses can impose turnover conditions.
- Keep evidence. Save the agreement, deposit receipts, wallet addresses, chat logs, emails and screenshots of the account balance.
What to do if a withdrawal is blocked
Do not send another payment simply because an agent promises that it will release the balance. Request the refusal and the contractual clause in writing. Give the broker a short, reasonable deadline and communicate through the official support address rather than only through a social-media representative.
If you paid by card, contact the card issuer promptly and ask about the dispute process. Bank transfers and cryptocurrency payments are usually harder to reverse, but you should still notify the bank or exchange, report the wallet address and preserve transaction IDs. Report suspected fraud to your national financial regulator and police or cybercrime reporting service. Be wary of anyone who later promises to recover the money for an upfront fee; recovery scams often target victims of trading scams.
Advantages and disadvantages
| Potential advantage | Corresponding risk |
|---|---|
| Access to leveraged forex or CFD trading | Most retail CFD traders lose money, and leverage magnifies losses. |
| Online account opening and trading software | Easy onboarding does not demonstrate regulatory protection. |
| Promotional spreads, bonuses or high leverage | Bonuses may restrict withdrawals; headline pricing may omit commissions and swaps. |
| International or offshore access | Dispute resolution and enforcement may be difficult in the customer’s country. |
Final assessment
iGOFX does not meet the standard I would use for a low-risk forex broker. The central concern is not simply whether the brand exists; it is whether the specific entity taking your money is currently authorised for your residence and provides meaningful customer protections.
Until those points are independently verified, classify iGOFX as high risk, not as a trusted mainstream broker. If an iGOFX representative has asked for an additional deposit, tax, insurance payment or wallet transfer before processing a withdrawal, do not pay it. That demand is a major warning sign regardless of what the trading platform shows.

FAQ
Is iGOFX a scam?
There is not enough verified evidence to state definitively that every operation using the iGOFX name is a scam. However, the broker should be treated as high risk unless its exact legal entity, current licence and withdrawal process are independently verified.
Is iGOFX regulated by the FCA, ASIC or NFA?
No current authorisation from the FCA, ASIC or NFA has been established for this review. Check each regulator’s official database using the legal company name rather than relying on iGOFX’s website claims.
Can iGOFX ask me to deposit more money before withdrawing?
Identity and source-of-funds checks can be legitimate, but a demand for a new deposit, advance tax, insurance payment or security fee to release existing funds is a serious advance-fee warning sign. Do not pay it without independent verification.
What should I do before opening an iGOFX account?
Read the client agreement, identify the contracting company, verify its licence on the regulator’s website, confirm the payment beneficiary and test a small withdrawal before depositing a larger amount.

No. Even a properly regulated broker cannot remove market risk, leverage risk, slippage or the possibility of losing your deposit. Regulation can improve oversight and dispute options, but it does not guarantee profits.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: iGOFX is not a broker I would recommend to a cautious retail trader without further verification. The absence of clearly established top-tier authorisation, the importance of identifying the actual contracting entity and the risk of advance-fee withdrawal demands make this a broker to approach with extreme caution. Never send additional money to unlock a withdrawal.
